Ship Bases Required

Triggy

Mongoose
In my last sets of purchases most of the ships that I've bought came with the new ball and socket bases. However, these don't match up with the rest of my fleet and I wanted to get hold of more of the "old style" large and small bases so I can base my whole fleet in the same way.

Does anybody have any of the "old style" large or small bases that they could sell or trade me (I have several new ball and socket bases for trade), either in plastic or in metal? I'm looking for about a dozen of each if that's possible.

PM me or post on here if you can help, thanks.

i will shortly ne "ninja"ing a number of ships, and depending how well i can remove stems I will have quite a few spare, I do have quite a lot that were never glued in anyway. I'll let you know what i have when it's done.

I use GW bases, so I've been keeping the MGP stands aside in case anyone needs them. I can round some up if you'd like.

Cheers all, TGT said he will bring some to the Walsall tourney. If anyone else would like to do so that would be great. Otherwise I'll let you know in two weeks if I need more.

Thanks!!!

Can't you just ignore the balls/sockets and use the stems underneath...? ;)

Nope the stems are different.

I got them to work. I just trimmed it farther down and filed a smaller section into it with a needle file. Worked fine.

Is the radius of the base itself the same or different from the older bases? If they're different, and the last minute orders come with the new style, I may have similar problems myself.

Strange, since that's exactly what I did with my Shadow Scouts. My recently-arrived boxed fleet also came with ball-and-socket bases, which made me happy until I realised that the socket won't fit between the Scout's underside spines! So I just left the sockets off the Scouts' stands, and the Scouts now sit quite happily on top of the basic stems.

The mounting pin on top of the socket is a different size, though, and wouldn't fit the holes in the undersides of the larger Shadow ships. I tried enlarging the holes a bit, then finally just glued the sockets onto the ships. The stems can still be removed from the balls.

No, they are still 25mm/50mm bases. It's only the stem that's different.

I've found the base sizes are larger actually. That's one of my issues...

Try the magnetic adapters instead of the bases.

For Hiffano

Just finished taking off the stems from a lot of my ships. I had no problem removing the metal ones, but the plastic ones seem to snap more offen than not. The hardest part will be drilling these plastic snap offs out.

I glue 50mm and 25mm steel discs onto the bottom of mine to use with magnetic storage containers and I haven't noticed any difference at all, and I've done three full fleets that way so far.

I've had a chance to compare them and the large bases are the same size but the small bases are larger on the ball and socket ones than the old ones.

You know, justbefore I put in my ast minute order, I carefully and detailedly inventoried all my minis and bases, but now I've lost track of that bit of paper....Arrgh!

I think I got some of the new ball and joint bases in myrecent purchases, but I have enough normal metal ones and plastic ones to ignore them.

Over the weekend I noticed that some of my large bases are about 4mm wider in diameter than the others. Weird. :?

OK folks, after a small deal with TGT, I have a couple more bases but still not enough to finish off my fleets. Can anyone else help me out with the old-style (non-ball and socket) bases, large and small, please? I can pay for them and their delivery and/or for trade I have four Bimiths and 6 Sky Serpents... (due to many successful trades I actually have very little stuff left for trade!)

Any offers of help would be appreciated.

I have just made an inventory of my bases and unassembled minis. I've got extra old style plastic bases: 16 small, 25 large + stems. I would be interested in those Sky Serpents. I'm in Finland instead of England, but send PM if you are interested.

The small ball and socket bases are 30mm, but those old style small plastic bases 25mm. The large ones are same sized. The 30mm size is ok with Tiracas, Xorrs and Sunhawks, but looks too large with Sky Serpents and Porfatis.

I hope the new manufacturer of the minis will make metal bases, too.
