Shadows/Drakh/GEG

I was looking over some of the material on Shadows, etc. Most references talk about the Shadow's having somekind of energy absorbtion traits. The old Wars similated this with their diffusers, the original CtA gave the Shadows adaptive armour if I remember correctly. When Mongoose issued the Drakh, they developed the GEG to help show some of what was going on on the TV screen. With the advent of Armageddon and the upscaling of the Shadow fleet. Was there any possibility given to including an energy absorbing trait for the Shadows like the GEG?

Something of this nature was discussed during playtesting, but the currect damage system was adopted instead.

That was what I believed happend.

Originally (IIRC) all the ancients were designed with adaptive armour, self-repair and 'damage resistance' and then AA was stripped from the Shadows. I get that, since they operate with different technology/fluff and the desire to maintain some kind of separation between the two.

I guess I just don't like that a system was pulled and nothing was added to replace it. I'm assuming the belief is that a Shadow ship is comparable to a Vorlon HC by trading resilience and weapon output for maneuverability and weapon arc. The philosophy that the Shadows are a "rapier" where the Vorlon are a "chainsaw."

Armageddon wasn't the place for big changes. The second edition howevere is another matter...

Has any played a Shadow Vs Vorlon armageddon game yet to get a feel for them? Any battle reports people would like to share?

Personally I think that the Abbai should get GEG instead of all those Interceptors. If you read the fluff for the Abbai defences, they sound much more like a GEG based system than the particle weapon based Interceptors of the EA. Just a thought.

I too think Abbai should get GEG, the reason they don't currently is that the rule didn't exist until SFoS. Maybe for second edition.

Actually the GEG didn't come about until the Drakh book. Maybe for the 2e.
