S&P 35 is out...the 2267 EA fleet list is previewed and it gives the Warlock as an Armageddon- level ship. Also the Nemesis, which frankly looks so similar as to be barely distinguishable as a unit of a separate class- it's a couple of tweaks away from the Tourney Warlock. What's the point of that? The EA now have no attractive War level choice- it's either the Command Omega or the Poseidon. That had better be one heck of an upgrade to the fighter rules.
The Hyperion is still in the lists; why? The assault variant is the only post- 2267 EA skirmisher, so much for initiative sinks, the Hyperion's replacement is Battle level, and either it or the Omega now seems largely unnecessary; I really, really do not like the way this is looking.

If you don't like the EA Crusade era list, don't play it. You can still use the earlier era lists.

There is a definite trend in the EA lists from smaller ships in the early years, to a good variety in the Third Age list, to big honkin' ships in the Crusade era.

As for initiative sinks - the EA's initiative gets better. I know that doesn't help get your boresights in, but it does make you more likely to win initiative in the first place.

The Assault Hyperion is presumably still in the lists so that the EA can actually perform planetary assaults. Although it does seem to be an anachronism.

Greg,

You could have a +20 initiative, but if your fleet is mostly boresight and your opponent has more units then you, then you won't get much of anything on the boresight. The +2 initiative is nice, but the only decent ship you have below raid is the Hermes. That's a huge hole in the fleet.

True. But the Minbari have only one ship below raid, no one thinks their fleet is a bad one.

I can see it being a problem when almost half of the ships in the fleet have boresight weapons. However the EA fleet has always had a problem with getting boresights because of lack of maneuverability. Also when playing with the high-level ships of the EA Crusade-era fleet, if overwhelmed by large numbers of enemy ships, one or two boresights will quickly reduce the enemy to managable numbers.
