Shadow Models

Greetings,

My gf has bought the Shadows Fleet box...
There are 3 'Young' Shadows inside and there is no different model to use as an 'Ancient'.
I'd like to find her an 'Ancient' Shadow Model so there is a bit of difference in size between te models. Since the range of difference for a shadow player is already quite low... (not that they need anything else, but hey)

Is there anyone who has experience with mixing models from different manufacturers and can aid me in my quest?
Is the one from Fleet Action or B5 Wars acceptable, and is there a difference in size, and in what way?

thxs in advance,

the fleet action ones will be tiny in comparison. and B5 wars models are the same ones used for ACTA.
hash i believe has a nice conversion of one, perhaps he will show you the model.

Just the answer I was looking for..

So the FA models are smaller...

And the B5 Wars models are the same size.

Good to know, this way I can abandon that idea...

And indeed think of other ways to solve the issue...

thxs,

It was make by Reaverman for his birthday. It's originally a normal Shadow Ship underneath all the extensions, and painted with an airbrush.

You could always use FA models as "young" ships and Mongoose ones as ancients...

Or you could paint one ship slightly differently, and make that the ancient in game where you want an ancient, and just another young otherwise.

That would be my suggestion as well. And then only use the FA models if she wants to field an Ancient and a Young ship. This probably won't happen unless the battle is at least 5 point War; anything less and the Ancient ship swallows at least half the FAP's, and she will want a decent number of Scouts.

It's worth noting that the B5Wars ships are not just the same size as the ACTA ones they are actually the same MINIATURE. Mongoose bought the molds off Agents of Gaming.

Shadows being the way they are though you could fairly easily modify them with things like pipe cleaners/wire and greenstuff to make a nice big one :)

What about taking a shadow vessel and making the legs a bit longer and the torso a bit rounder with green stuff. It would be a fairly easy project and would look noticeably bigger.

Use 2 of the middle layers on one ship and bed the spines a bit. It looks bigger but not too big and you still have the top and bottom pieces to make a young ship.

Or stick 2 ships back to back.

These might be worth looking at now the Mini are no longer available

Just adding additional spines is the easiest way to make a larger ship. The FA dreadnaught basically just has another layer of base hull in the middle. So take and extra shadow ship model if you can find one, and add it into the middle (or half of it)... gives a good look.
