Serpent Police Cutter Deckplan

Detaching from the original post.. here it is finished, exported to AI and tweaked. Greyed lines on the squares to let them stand out and fitted the Launch too.

Enjoy! Next 3D version...

Is it intentional that the launch engine is black, rather than the dark grey?

Other than that, "Snapshot-tastick"!

Nope, its a mistake, easily fixed. Just my old 20" CRT just makes that colour look black.

Great thing is in AI I can tweak it or scale it big!

Cheers!

Hows that.? Pretty much built the 3D model with the deckplan in mind and a little inspiration from the image in the book.. mind you that turrets ugly :)

Very nice..don't know when I will use it BUT very well done!!

Thanks for your hard work!!

Middenface: Please do a textual writeup about this class of ship (history, mission, design quirks, et cetera), and then send the writeup and copies of the plans and renders to Freelance Traveller (submissions@freelancetraveller.com).

Better than the original, although the bridge windows don't match the plan (but neither did that one).

I know and thanks, well I kind of assume theres some more hull in front of the cockpit. The model is roughly the right size but not tall enough to fit the launch - so theres going to be some bulge underneath to fit... Mind you I may rebuild it - I want to export and render to Vue but as it is the hull isn't smooth enough or maybe try some render engine for sketchup instead.

Thats a nice idea, I can write too. :) I like it, perhaps some variants too.

Variants would definitely be a nice touch!

There is one variant that I put up some time ago; it does away with the small craft (an unnecessary cargo-wasting addition IMNHO).

Maybe, but it does answer another question. How does the craft get from the factory to target world? A 100 dTon craft is kind of difficult to transport. On the other hand if you put a size-A Jump drive in a 20 dTon Launch (and assume an external source of jump fuel) you have a temporary jump capable ship. Once the PC gets to it final destination you ship the 20 dTon Launch and its crew back.

Besides, who says the hanger has to be used for a Launch? While a garage is supposed to be for storing cars how many are full of other stuff?

You could assume that the company that makes the Serpent tranports them with something like a 500-ton carrier that can deliver a couple at least. The company may also sale a "20-ton Jump Module" that slips in the docking bay - Jump Drive A plus 10 tons fuel for a single Jump-1. Higher jumps would require the owner to contact the company and pay a large fee to have one of their carriers dispatched.

Ooph lots of stuff... Right just posted the S Class in Snap Shot flavour. Got a commision to finish and then might start banging the keyboard and doing a write up.

I don't see a huge problem with launch, I do like the idea of ripping it out for extra cargo though, mind you what does a police cutter need with lots of cargo space?

Reading more about it, it sounds like a mini SDB. Possible variants... Long Serpent (pop in a jump engine) Assault Serpent (think SWAT tank) MediVac version - improved search and rescue sort of thing>?
