Prelude - we need to arrange a transatlantic tournament...the card players do it! ;)
I'm right with you Hash...if only Mongoose could get involved (wink, wink) plane tickets...(nudge and a wink).

Could you imagine the transatlantic trash talk? It could be an annual event, with the same trophy exchanging hands every time. Actually it would never leave the States  .

Remember there will be a special prize for "Best Looking Fleet", this is something you get to vote on!

So if the St Patricks day fleet is something you'd vote for...

Just as a reminder there will be prizes for the following:

Tourney Champion - 1st Place
Runner-up - 2nd Place
Best Looking Fleet (Based on whatever you like from painting, models to excellent fleet selection even if it uses counters!)
The Black Omega "Pinata" Prize - For last place ;)

The prize for 3rd place is being scrapped as I don't think we have enough players to warrant it but I may be able to scrape something together ;)

ooh, ooh, what do i get for last place?

ALSO, I "MAY" have a friend who wants to come along, this means me leaving my house even earlier to pick him up, man I'm gonna be knackered. IF he comes, he will probably be ISA, Abbai would be his second choice

Great - if he comes more the merrier...looks like we have between 10 - 14 players so should be fairly good, hopefully you won't end up with having to play people you came with! At least for the 1st game...

I could see us meeting halfway in someplace like the Azores or Thule in Greenland.

Just kidding

Gents (there ain't any ladies signed up to the tourney and more's the pity...),

You will be pleased (well I am) to know I got something in the post from Mongoose today for the tourney - not at all what I expected but extremely cool nonetheless!

On behalf of the Sentient Rabbits Gaming Society; many thanks to Alex, Matt and everyone at Mongoose for being so supportive of their gamers!

Nah, this one only has 11 ships in it :P

Given how the Wargames Workshop tournament went, I've decided to give the tournament scoring table a slight rework:

Win game by 41+ (or fleet destroyed) Victory Points - 20 Tournament Points awarded for Victor, 0 points other player
Win game by 31-40 Victory Points - 18 Tournament Points awarded for Victor, 2 points for other player
Win game by 21-30 Victory Points - 16 Tournament Points awarded for Victor, 4 points for other player
Win game by 11-20 Victory Points - 14 Tournament Points awarded for Victor, 6 points for other player
Win game by 05-10 Victory Points - 12 Tournament Points awarded for Victor, 8 points for other player
Win game by 00-04 Victory Points - 10 Tournament Points awarded to each player

There are some other special rules that we will be using at the Conflicts of Interest tournament but they are also noted on the site. (see link in my sig.)

Was wondering what people felt about our other special rule - it's on the game site but here it is again:

"Each game will be a standard A Call to Arms Scenario as detailed in the Sky Full of Stars ACTA supplement - that is a 10 turn game with no terrain or hyperspace battle allowed. However, each opponent has an opportunity to modify the scenario set up through the use of Tactical Advantage Cards or TACs which are explained below (there are three types of card available);

* Terrain - Playing this card means that terrain is generated randomly for the battle. This is done as per the rules noted in Book 1, ACTA Revised Edition.
* Hyperspace Reserves - BOTH players may keep up to 2 Fleet Allocation Points worth of their fleet in hyperspace as a reserve.
* Outmaneuvered - You may play this card to cancel out the effects of another card. This must be played immediately after your opponent declares his intention to use a card.

Each player, at the start of the tournament will be given TWO Tactical Advantage Cards (TACs) of his choice that may be played at the start of any of the tournament games, although only one TAC (per player) may be played in any one game. "

Is that clear? No questions?

it's certainly interesting, could see some frustrating moments, Some fleets will easily benefit from either terrain or hyperspace, while others won't so will go for cancelling. It could be amusing to see what happens.
If both players play the same card, do the effects double? eg 2 hyperspace cards, 4FAP in hyperspace?!
