Second Age Differences

Hmmm. Dead blue clown. It seems I remember that moniker in relation to a writer for Second Age Atlantis by Morrigan Press. Any relationship there?

Dead Blue Clown has read some RQ stuff, sometime during those 26 years, right? It's not like they put the rules into the hands of just any clown. :D

RuneQuest experience was part of the criteria to get the gig. Admittedly, I was more familiar with Pendragon, but yeah, I'd played RQ a lot when I was younger.

I shuddered just then, for real. Yeah, that was me. I did a few little spots of that book, though admittedly not much. I full-timed for Morrigan Press for 9 months in 2005, and I've freelanced a whole bunch for White Wolf over the past few years. If you fancy getting an early judgement call in, I'd, uh...rather it was based on my WW stuff. Not that I have a say in such things... :)

Hurray, I'm glad to know that they did get people who had some experience with RQ. Pendragon shares a quite a few features with RQ, so experience with it doesn't necessarily hurt. I wonder if you could confirm the rumours that some old the old RQ writers have a hand in the new edtition.

Heck, Mike Pondsmith wrote stuff for TSR's Buck Rodgers RPG. It didn't make Mekton or Cyberpunk bad games. But at least you've been noticed. How does it feel to be famous?
:D

Ack! I think many of us have been playing RQ longer than you've been alive!

Hey, I'm 26 next month! That's pretty old, right?

Okay, It's offical. I have been playing RQ longer than Dead BlueClown has been alive!

Good grief!
I have *almost* been playing RuneQuest as long as well!

All I can say is though "Keep writing! and avoid any clowns as they are evil"

Err, you can't actually have been younger, can you?

Add me to the list of people who've been playing RQ longer than you've been breathing.

On the upside, from your blog, you seem to be a good choice for the job. Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with.

Not sure what I'm allowed to say. I doubt anything incriminating would come from admitting the other writers' names, but you never know. I've seen the talent on some of the books (like the main Glorantha book, f'rex) and it's pretty staggering. I was actually a little nervous just casually emailing them. Names passed around your gaming groups can seem a little weird when they suddenly pop up in your Inbox.

Ha, I'll tell you when I'm famous. :)

"Curses! this one has been fettered with an NDA!" :D

Ah well, at least we can read the cridits when the book comes out. It's just that so far, I've heard the name of practically everyone who was ever involved in RQ and HQ dropped, along with Ken Hite. I was just curious if there actualy is anyone involved who helped write RQ before. I hope so.

There is. I could probably ease your worries with a single sentence, punctuated only by a comma and period. However, like I said, it might be a big secret part of the process that gets announced later. I'll email High Command as ask if they care one way or the other.

EDIT: Email received. Here we go, then.

Greg Stafford reviews everything written for the Second Age line before it goes to press. That should ease a lot of anyone's fears. Robin D. Laws (and industry names don't get much better or bigger than him) wrote Glorantha: the 2nd Age which is coming out next month with the main RQ rulebook. I've read that (countless times) and it's a blinder. Hell, it'll probably win awards, and his RQ experience should go a long way to finishing off any doubts about ex-RQ writers being involved.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thats to both of you for the info. It is nice to know that Greg Stafford is overseing the Gloranthan stuff.

As far as the RQ design team goes, it's all a bunch of new names to me, with the exception of Ken Hite. I liked Ken's work for ICON, such as the Star Trek TOS book.

From what I can google up on the others, most of thier credits are for products that I haven't seen-mostly d20 stuff. I hope they are good.
