Apologies if this has been aswered already.

In the Main rulebook under ship construction, a Nuclear Dampner weighs 50 tons and costs 50 Mgc. This is for ships 2000 tons or less.

In High Guard under ship contruction, a Nuclear Dampner for Ships between 3000-7500 tons weighs 20 tons and costs 30 Mgc.

Why?

It's been asked already :) - never saw a plausible answer though. Personnally, I'd use the 20 tons/MCr 30 as a new minimum. There are a number of other disjoints as well...

The TMB gives a basic/generic version of the ND and Meson Screens. They are a simplification. Note that there are no 100-ton bays or Spinal Mounts in the TMB either, but at least the 100-ton Bay COULD be fit on a ship designed using the TMB (under 2000 tons).

HG allows you to "stack" nuclear dampers to some extent, so the individual sizes are different.

If ND or Meson Screens are going to be a big part of your game, us the HG rules. If they are only going to appear on a few ships (NPC Ships), then using the simplification from the TMB is good enough.

Depends on what kind of game you want to play. Personally, I let the HG numbers supercede the TMB wherever there is a difference. Your call though.

This is the most logical approach, and what I plan on doing once I get a game going maybe someday sometime somewhere.
