Scipio Sends

"The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated." --- Mark Twain

Hello to ALL my friends here!!!!

It's been a helluva ride these past few months, and I just wanted to pop in and say "Hi!" and see what was up with SST.

I'm feeling FANTASTIC! A WHOLE new lease on life! I was scaring around down in the basement today and found all my SST stuff: a huge dishpack full of un-opened minis, a plastic sweater box filled with bugs, as well as a figure case of Skinnies. All that made me miss you guys all over again!

@BuShips: Brother, if ever you need a friend, all you have to do is call! Your e-mails and pep-talks HELPED! More than that, they made me feel less alone! Thanks for listening, and thanks for being there!

If I've ever offended anyone in my posts, well, I'm VERY sorry! I've been a bitchy, cranky, SOB for a long time now: it wasn't due to you, it was due to me. Again, I'm sorry!

My stand on pre-paints remains the same. My stand on "dumbed down rules" remains the same: I'm just less obnoxious now...and recognize that my opinion is just that.

Taco is doing very well. She was one of my primary saviors throughout this ordeal! No matter how bad I felt, or how sick I was, I always knew that she depended on me totally. She's loving life again now that "daddy" has hair to preen again! (I'm even growing a moustache!!)

I've been using FoW as my sole creative outlet...although I've been very slow on painting. As I get more energy, I find that I get more motivated.

Oh well. I just wanted to send yells to all of you guys! Keep the faith and make SST v.2 the best it SHOULD be!!!!

Warmest Regards,

Scipio

i seem to recall reading some posts by you last summer. taco's the bird that ate some of your figs right? dunno what happend but glad to know yer ok

Hello Scipio, nice to see you back again.
I also took a break from SST, for as long as you did. I remember you quitting SST quite well. I have always appreciated your posts.

But since I started playing BF:E (what I can only strongly recommend), I am looking forward for STT:E.

The prepaints of BF:E have convinced me. To start playing from the box is a total new wargaming feeling for me and my friends. A little paint here and there, and on we go. And it gives me more time for making terrain.

The BF:E rules are very, very good (in fact the best I every played in a commercial tactical game), better than our beloved SST.

And I have good hope that SST:E will be better than BF:E. Better rules, more combat decisions, more fast paced art of war.

@ban, Hiro, Richgo, Greg, Gauntlet, and Sgt:

@Sgt. Brassones: BIG Brass Ones, I hope!!!!!

Thanks guys!!!! Your welcome backs actually bring a tear to my eye! Ok...ok...a LOT of tears to my eyes. *group hug*

It's nice to be remembered...and even nicer to be missed! :D :D :D

For what it's worth: EVERY day you wake up still breathing is a gift! Personally, my attitude now is to just try to ENJOY each day. Amazing! I am no longer the "glass is half empty" guy.

I actually did get a box of BF:Evo Marines...but was so torqued off with the painting and the fact that most seemed to be bound to their packing straps that I just threw the whole lot out in frustration.

I haven't seen the complete rules for BF:Evo yet...other fish to fry lately!

So...what's up with SST v. 2? Will the pre-paints be up to the originally promised standard? Or...will MGP in a fit of lucidity decide to abandon pre-paints and decide instead to release high-quality sculpts?

I seem to remember Ian promising that the pre-paints had the paint IN the plastic, and that it was all very hi-tech. Does anyone else remember that? A LIE is a LIE, and it certainly P*SSED me off.

Oh well. So...what's up with SST v. 2???

Regards.

Sign. Espacially for the later one (I don't think prepainted are that bad, but the preview cards gave me some serious headache - especially the confuse arrangement of the rules and the rules for Firestorm and PeeWee).
But that doesn't hurt me too much, looks like we will get stuck with SST1 anyway.

And good to see you again here I seriously missed you (and Taco).

Scipio! It's so nice to "see" you on the forum. I was close to dropping you a line about a project I'm on, but this way I can tease you and others here as well. Let's just say it's a terrain item and a tribute to SST (version whatever) and will go well with my Whiskey Compound fort that I built over two years ago while waiting for the game's premier.

I've been very busy moving, but am closing in on that little project day by day. It's kept me quite distracted of late.

As far as Mongoose goes, we'll all be seeing how they deliver on the revised SST game over the next few months (?). They need at least some things to go well for them, as tooling up must have cost them some major blood and treasure.

Let us wait an see.
And Scipio (or should I call you Hannibal. . . after Zama?), I like the prepaints BF:E. I like the idea you get the box, open it, and do battle. That will get new blood to the game.

And if you please, Scipio, take a look at the BF:E board. I have a question about platton markings on tanks. . . maybe you can answer it for me.

Best regards

Well, Rich, sadly my experience is 20+ years out of date...and I never dealt with vehicles that much in my Army career anyway...except my size 9-1/2 motivators! I'd suggest you do a search for pics of modern US vehicles.

From what I can remember, vehicles were only marked on the bumpers (the chevrons you see on modern vehicles are WAY before my time). An example would be: A 1-504 Abn (which would translate to A company, 1st Bn, 504th Abn Rgt). But...CURSE MY MEMORY...I seem to remember that our jeeps were designated by platoon as well. Maybe on the right bumper (facing the vehicle) but I just can't remember!!! Or...maybe that was the vehicle number...I just can't remember!

None of this will help with BF:Evo, since the only US figs are Marines and I have NO idea how they mark their vehicles.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

Well, I thought that they lifted their leg, but...

Sorry you Jarheads, j/k!

Thanks for you help, in any case.
Besides: Did your ever thought of training Taco for aerial attacks on you opponents minis?

ROFLMAO!!!!

"Nice one, Centurion! Like it! Like it!"

So...what is this new terrain project you're going to tease us all with??? Hmmm? E-mail me if you don't want to spill the beans.

Regards.
