Sandy Petersen's Sorcery Rules (not MRQ2!)

PhilHibbs

Mongoose
I have restored Sandy Petersen's sorcery rules to my new web site, plus some house rules of my own. This is a complete replacement for the AHRQ Sorcery rules. Some ideas might be useful to integrate into MRQ, but it would take some care. If you only read one thing then read Xemela's Blessing at the very end, it's a hoot.

Thank you !
Those rules, even if a bit difficult to understand, are a masterpiece.

Nevertheless, I notice you changed the rituals rules at some place to introduce random values instead of Intensity. I prefer Sandy Petersen's original.

For instance, in the version I have, Magic Point Matrix reads :

MAGIC POINT MATRIX
Enchant
Allows an enchanter to create an MP storage device which holds 1 MP per point in the spell.
It costs 1 POW to cast this spell.

Where "points" are equal to spell's Intensity.

No, I haven't changed anything, Sandy must have changed it. One of us has an older set than the other. What's the copyright date on yours?

Hey Phil

Nice work.

There was some discussion over on the BRP Central forum that Sandy had also produced some Shaman rules. Do you have a copy of those by any chance?

Hm, I think I used to, but I can't find them. I'll post here if I find them.

As for myself, I have 2 files on my computer:

-sorcery.doc (copyright 1998 -so I guess PhilHibb's version is newer)
-rituals.doc

I may also have on another computer 4 other files:

-shaman.doc
-saints.doc
-mystics.doc (not sure of the name)
-grimoire.doc

As far as I remember, I found all those files somewhere on the net in 1999 or 2000.

Could these be the shaman rules I've heard about on BRP Central? If so, I would love a copy if possible.

mystics.doc is correct.

Also I have
- general tricks.doc
- sect.doc

There was also a brief file on conversion called converting.doc

I think I said a word on BRP Central about the existence of those rules :D

I read it a long time ago, and didn't pay it the same attention level than sorcery or rituals...

I used to have it on a Geocities account, but it is now dead.

I'll see if I can find it home.

Sanfy's Spirit Magic is in Ye Booke of Tentacles #2. Unfortunately, this fine publication is out of print and I do not know if the Chaos Society can reprint it :)
