Sailors missing ...

rust

Mongoose
Browsing through my (German translation of) the core rulebook, I do not
find a Sailor career. :(

Not the wet navy people, they belong into Mercenary, but the kind of civi-
lians that would inhabit one of the water worlds: Merchant navy, citizens
of underwater habitats, professional divers, fishermen ...

And, well, there is not exactly much useful equipment for such people in
the book, and I also did not find a single water craft, not even something
like the very generic boats and subs of Classic Traveller.

I really like Mongoose Traveller very much, and I understand that the fo-
cus of the game is definitely not on water worlds, but it seems that I will
have to do much more than expected to adapt the rules to my setting.

Of course, the problem are my expectations, not the book - but still I am
slightly ... disappointed.

A lot of those professions are going to look like their space-going equivalents with a different transport skill attached.

Mercenary does have "Submariner" as a Wet Navy specialty.

True, and I expected to have to rewrite most careers and their events
tables for my setting anyway. I am just slightly miffed that I will have
to design almost the entire mustering out benefits part more or less
from scratch, too - although I should probably have known it.

Thank you very much for this information. :D

Dirty secret: MGT can use the equipment from prior editions pretty easily, as long as there aren't weapon stats involved.

There have been a couple attempts at wet craft design sequences. Very gearhead oriented, in general.

Yep, I have already started to search the net, and it seems that I will find
more than enough good ideas for my setting. :D
