S&P 47 - big time Evo News

If they would have done this from the initial uproar, it would have been a good move. When you tell us "trust us" and argue that there's nothing wrong, it's time to stick it out for good or bad.

Personally, I dumped right after wave 1. I just couldn't get over the minis quality and size. I just feel bad for you guys that made it to wave 2+.

This is a pretty big bone. STEvo better be the greatest thing since sliced bread and cost about as much.

I'm not totally against future Mongoose product, I just won't buy anything until it's been around for at least 6 months and has glowing reviews.....

TOS you must live on these boards cause you are here night and day . . . lol

Taking care of the terminally ill means your up both nights and days. I have no regular sleep hours, so it does seem that way sometimes!

But they have said there is something wrong. And dumped after wave1? Must have just been birthday gift or something - huh. Sorry you feel that way- ya missed a couple more releases, but at least let us know how you feel. Maybe will catch ya on another game from these folks.

Actually this can be a positive - - - at first when I thought about I was upset but now . . .
1. Mongoose can actually work out production issues. The one thing that killed the game in my area was when the first wave came out my LGS couldn't restock . . . now mongoose can really see what demand they have for the game and fix the supply issue.
2. Mongoose can continue to work on the rules. I feel they created a very sound set of rules, yet there is some ambiguous rulings. Emplacements is a big one that needs to be tweaked.
3. I would also like to see Mongoose create rulings that would allow you to personalize your own army. What I mean about this is . . . create traits and personalities for your army. That was the great thing about Starship Troopers, I had my own unit and my friends had their own units. No brain bug was the same,
no lieutenant was the same.
4. Also, I feel that they are go the way of Rackham, by creating different head for the units - - - that will allow us to create our units and personalize the units to our tastes.
I really feel that Mongoose has feel a huge void here. I love the thought of prepainted Models, basically plug and play. Also, the modern combat is very exciting to me. I m tired of WW2 and scifi . . . this feels real and this feels like now.

TOS sorry about your situation, been there done that and don't wish it on anyone else.

Good luck guys!!

Just for you guys info. I ask one of the representatives of MP at Historicon about the MEA tank Zulifgar stats and I was inform that they would be the same as MBT -99

I have seen the stats, it was cheaper than the T-99 and had a faster speed. Unless they changed it.

A company who clearly doesn't mind taking the considerable risk of dealing with Mongoose.
Their track record would put most off.

oh come on..

who can it be, and this should be good news by the looks of it..

it means that this type is a good way to go since somone else is interested ..

On the other hand monthly support with new units from commercially available kits/models until the new stuff is out. And helos and aircraft promised to be the biggest ball ache in terms of the models.

Since there is now the possibility of pretty much every 1/72 kit you can think of being a suggestion for S&P content, we should start a thread for what we want to see get an official card.

I'm so glad I saw this coming and dumped this game! Why is it that an MGP miniatures game dies when they try to do some sort of aircraft? Oh well the AT-43 rules are far superior to Evo (IMO) so I'm glad they greased my heels!

I just hope they get SST out again for just long enough so I can dump my collection of that for a fair price! At least it looks nice on the shelf.

Good luck all!

I'm goping to try AT-43 again because it did not impress me......maybe the demo guy needed help. I thought that the figures Rocked! but the rules blow wad.

Ah well to each his own :)

Yeah, i have to admit i wasn't inspired by AT-43. It was ok but playing through the booklet left me a bit cold. I think i'd wait for more mini choice to be available before going down that route. Untill then the wargames budget is going to classic battletech and bolt action minis.

Did you use the real rules or the initiation set? Get the rulebook and the army books (which are quite cheap on the Warstore) and there is a ton of depth. At first it is a bit confusing because they like to use a mission structure somewhat similar t the SST rules to get the game started. Once you figure out how to build and army and start the game is fast and intuitive.

MGP swore they fixed what was wrong with the SST rule set with EVO but line of sight and fire zones are still a mess. It is sad to me that rules written in French and translated to English are more clear and easy to play than those that were written in English. But to each their own. I don't want to harsh on anyone for still hanging on but I have had MGP break so many promises to me as their consumer I can no longer support them.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me......

I found the rules for BFE refreashing. Yes there are some LOS niggles. But, they are easily handled by the String to centre of the model method. That a players defining their terrain ahead of time.

As for the FZ, they are easy to use. I don't use roll dice seperately, but Always together, the allocation of the DD handles the rest. It really is easy. Common sense rules in the case of different weapons being allocated, based on the model firing and the targets that model can see.

I have NO problem with MPs rules regarding LOS and FZ as long as I use the above methods. My only complaint is the lack of defined terrain, but again, players ahead of the game can handle it just fine. The problem is, that many treat this as a ccg or tourney set of rules. Miniature games by their nature, work better in friendly games, scenarios, and campaigns.

As for AT-43. The last thing I want is another lame Sci-Fi game. PASS!!

I can only back up The Old Soldier. I like the BFE ruleset very much. I will wait and see what the future brings. As long as they do not drop BFE, I will stay a customer.
