Runequest/Legend: Malazan Empire Project

Using the Paths

Unless specified otherwise, these are the only Warrens accessible by humans in game. Each Warren utilised a different Path skill.

Path Telas (POW + CHA)

Gives access to the following spells, but the spells must be learned as per P107 of the Runequest Core Rulebook for Common Magic spells.

If a Path roll is a critical success, the spell costs one less magic point (to a minimum of 1) tp cast.

If the roll fumbles, the caster uses up all the magic points for the spell, and the spell is not cast. Furthermore, at the GMs discression, the Warren may cause backlash.

The idea looks good and simple enough to traslate across the Warrens.

you could go down the route of having compulsions as in Elric - so that one is effected by the Warren......

I'll take a look at the Elric book later, can't exactly remember compulsions off the top of my head.

I tried to simplify the magic as much as possible. That way I can get a lot of it done relatively quickly.

Well, for those who are following this thread, which I haven't updated until recently, where would be the next best place to go from here? Statlines for monsters perhaps? Any suggestions?

Be interested to see how you think its best to handle the Gods and Powers of the World

Ascendants versus Eldar Gods.

It seems very Glorithian on its scope and complexity - plus the maliability of the Gods?

Does seem also to be the Mythic resonance ideas?

Plus the Mortal Shields and Swords - interesting concepts?

Regarding Gods, I could go the cult route as per Runequest, and powers of the world, I'm not too sure yet.

I'm not sure if there would be a point writing stats for the gods, but if I did, it would be somehting along the lines of the 'big monsters' from MRQ 1st edition monsters, but more powerful. Not sure if writing stats for them would work, but maybe something along the lines of possessing mortals, as per Sorry. Dragons could work.

Not sure what you mean by the 'Mortal Shields and Swords'.

Hi Mage,

You have done a helluva lot of work on this Project ...

The Mortal Sword/Shield are champions of their respective deity ... if I remember correctly there is a third position role as well but I can't recall what the name is here at work. They fulfil different roles within their religion ...

In terms of game mechanics, do you have a take on the Dragon Deck?

Hi Warlock

I've done a bit, but life and other projects made this one fall by the wayside.

With Game Mechanics, no, I haven't had anything done with the Dragon Deck. It could make an interesting mechanic to use a deck of cards as opposed to rolling though.

I haven't thought about this for a while, and honestly, it got a bit depressing doing it by myself, as my knowledge of the setting is far from stellar.

I understand your frustration. I feel restricted by my knowledge of the Legend system ...

... I need a group in South Africa, specifically in Cape Town, to buy in to the Legend system but everyone seems too focused on Pathfinder and other D20 3.X products

You could always try running games at a store and GMing, or ask your gaming friends to give the system a chance.

@warlock1971, have you tried looking for gamers on line, you might find legend players that way if you local area groups are more interested in D&D/Pathfinder.
