Rules Question

Judge Xombe

Mongoose
Is the intent of the damage/injury steps supposed to be:

I hit a target successfully for 2 or more damage die.

I roll the first damage die resulting in reducing the model to 0 Hits
- the model rolls for injury - is stunned - goes back to the table

The battle continues and the second damage roll is now made...

The above is how we interpreted it as the intent of the game, but there was the discussion that maybe once a model reduces to zero and rolls for injury, the battle ends, even if they return to the table stunned.

It seemed that if you are stunned after the first damage roll and return to the combat, it was very unlikely you'd survive the second (or more) damage rolls.

We always play that a stunned or scratched character carries on and takes all the punishments due.

Remember, though, that they must make an immediate WtF roll on being injured, which they may voluntarily flunk. This allows them to avoid a potentially nastier injury.. the joy of WtF!!!

That said, we've had scratched characters battle on to some remarkably unlikely wins, particularly in Close Combat... Scratched characters with a decent parrying weapon and some sixes fending off and injuring two attackers, etc. So it can be worth letting them stay put and hope the next damage roll is low.
