Just wondered what's the statistic on peoples RPG background here on the forum. Have you played mostly d20 or d100 systems before?

SGL.

D100 all the way. Plus some d10 and d6 based systems.

Though one of my altime favorite systems is d20 - that would be Pendragon. :)

That's a problem - I'm an ex-RQ1 player which also means I did D&D before it was d20 and also did original Traveller (2d6, basically) as well as Pendragon, C&S, Cthulhu, etc ... where's the "both" or "something else" boxes? :wink:

d10 and d6 boxes? Darn! I rolled a failure! I probably need a period of poll-making excercise like Rurik had to increase my poll-making skill.

Well, just keep using your poll making skill and you'll get better at it.

Oh, wait, wrong system...

I picked d100 since I did play a lot of RQ3 back in the day (and Hârnmaster later), but I think 3d6 (GURPS) would have been the right box for me.

I have been playing roleplaying games since about 1978 and they have been mostly D&D. Its only in the past 10 years or so that I have gotten involved with groups that play other systems such as stormbringer, champions, whitewolf, and shadowrun. I do much prefer the systems that are "classless" as players can choose skills that fit a character rather than trying to fit a character to a predefined class. I am currently involved in runing a new RQ campaign and am playing in an Iron Kingdoms campaign and generic world D&D campaign with a Werewolf game starting in the near future.

Been gaming for 27 years, have played a ton of different systems. Favorites d100, SR 4th Edition, White Wolf (Old and New WOD), Earhtdawn, The Riddle of Steel, and Fading Suns. Started on D&D and quickly moved on to better things, played d20 for a year when it first came out and rediscovered why I dropped it in the first place.

Since moving to London, I've been playing mainly d20. Over the years though, I would think lengthy periods playing mainly RQ2/3 and Call of Cthulhu would mean that BRP-related games are the largest category (I've also played quite a bit of Pendragon, if you count that as BRP-related, even though not d100). There's quite a bit of Traveller mixed in there too, which of course is neither...

I put d100, but really, "both" would be more appropriate, or any combo
of d20, d100, 2d6 (Traveller), 3d6 (GURPS), and the system known as
Jorune which was a mix of dice. I probably played them all equally.

However, given the two choices, and that d20 usually refers to modern
D&D/WotC (I don't consider 80's AD&D to be a d20 system), then
d100 is the more appropriate answer (RQ2, Stormbringer/Elric!, CoC
and James Bond).

Yep, problem with the poll is that D20 is too new to be given the second choice. But if by D20 you also mean AD&D back in the 70's and 80's where to hit required a D20 roll, then yes, it's a valid poll.

I did the same even though I am the same.

By d20 I did mean AD&D in all its incarnations. It's a poor poll, but I what I was trying to see was how many had a primary AD&D background and how many had a primary BRP background.

EDIT: So far BRP seems to be the winner!

So does that mean the OGL Runequest isn't bringing in the D&D d20 players? Or that this board is just full of us RQ grognards?

Hmm, maybe my d100 vote should have been d20, then.

My CV:
70's = d20 (D&D) and d6 (T&T) Player, then GM.
80's = d20 (AD&D) Player & GM, latterly with some RQ2 & home-brew d100 as player.
90's+ = d100 (my own RQ variant, plus some RQ2/3) GM, occasional d20 (AD&D variant) as player (and, as of this month, player of strict 1st-ed AD&D - retro-chic or what!)

So, d100 at heart, but maybe d20 by total playing time - just. What's that make me? (Polite answers only, please!)

Hehe, that depends on what you think about "legendary abilities".
