Roughly how intelligent is he/she

I use A Rule when generating Npcs that like in 1st Edition DAD you roll for each stat rather then roll enough times then assign the rolls to the stats as you want and want to know, as it happened a few hours ago, roughly how intelligent someone is who rolled A 2 for Int or Edu and A 12 for the other?

If you roll a 2 for Int then the character is not very bright, politeness stops me using the words that would really describe them.

I went to university with a lot of people who were not very bright - low Int score - but they had the education their parents had bought 8+

This poster speaks truth.

You can achieve a good EDU and have crap INT. It's extremely common. So's the opposite.

My experience with university students over 20 years or so is the same - people can earn a high level of education and be able to rememeber stuff from it without possessing much problem-solving ability. Or common sense.

And the opposite is also true.

There is some correlation though. It's easier to pass admission exams if one is more intelligent. It's easier to remember the stuff that's taught in academia if one is more intelligent. The effect is much weaker in the other direction though; there are plenty of people who are intelligent but poorly educated due to limited opportunity: discrimination, poverty social difficulty fitting into educational institutions, etc.

In game terms, one could model that by granting an intelligence based modifier to the roll to increase education with college, and maybe to the college survival and success rolls. Maybe that's there already; I don't have my books handu.
