Romulan kestrel ships

Scoutdad is correct i will not be posting any shipstats for this. Svc can not allow it without risking problems with Paramount and i will not be the cause of any such problems for him.

And we greatly appreciate your willingness to show restraint. :) It would be very easy to bring down the wrath of Paramount and it's legions of lawyers upon ADB's head.

Back to Kestrel conversions....

Didn't the Federation pay for the Romulans to convert the F5W in an attempt to keep them in the war against the Andromedans? Might not be remembering correctly....

From Captains log #40 pg. 100 "Shipyard report"

"As the Romulans still had limited ability to support ships of Klingon manufacture, the Federation and the Klingon Empire shared the costs to provide a few squadrons of Klingon ships to the Romulans in Y192"

so the Feds and Klingons split the cost to keep the Andromedans from overrunning the Romulans.

I think it was more that the Romulans, after being beat up badly by the Alliance forces, and then after the Romulan Civil War, were kind of short of both ships and funds.

Yes, but were they that scared of the Andromadons that they helped the romulans rather then let the empire be destroyed and then welcome any survivors/systems that fled/then came over to them, considering the history of both had with the Star empire, there must have been factions with both that hated the idea of helping the Romulans.

Were they really that scared of the andromadons?

Yes, the Andromedan War was a close run thing, if the U.S.S. Darwin hadn't fallen through a time rift and learned the the secrets of the Andromedan Rapid Transit Network, the Andromedan would have won the war, as they did in the future that the U.S.S. Darwin observed. At least according to established SFU history. However distasteful, propping up the Romulans helped to keep the Andromedans from gaining a foothold in the Alpha Sector.

The Bottom Line is the Romulans were months if not weeks from completely collapsing. The Andro had already annihilated the break away Lyran Democratic Republic and almost crushed the Wyn Star Cluster. All the Galactic Powers were struggling but the ISC and Roms had less than a year before they would collapse. The fear was that the Andros would crush the last of the Romulan Star Empire and throw all its weight then on the ISC giving the control of a quarter of the Alpha Sector.

Desperation marked some really bizzare alliances. And if you really want to know how scared everyone was look at the Fact that neither the Tholians or the Gorns opposed arming the Romulans.

No matter where in the (known) Star Fleet Universe the Andromedans go, making friends with the locals is most decidedly not on their agenda.

There's a discussion thread about the Andros here, in case you are interested.

EDIT: From what I recall, the first shipments of F5W hulls to the Romulans was arranged in Y192, three years before the Andromedans conquered the LDR.

So it was basically everyone against the Andromadons then?

Correct, based on established history the Amdromedans were an invaders from the Andromedan Galaxy. They have already successfully invaded the LMC (Lesser Magellanic Cloud) leaving only a handful of survivors hiding in out of the way places, until they too are found and eradicated. Andromedans kill everything including plants and replace them with their own biome.

The Omega Sector, was on the edge of collapse when the Alpha Sector learned of the RTN. At this time we do not know how the rest of the Galaxy successfully defended themselves vs. the Andromedans, but it has been stated that the Andromedan invasion was a mufti-pronged attack on the Milkyway, and that other satellite galaxies were used as the LMC was used.

Here is a list of downloads from ADB, including various maps; http://www.starfleetgames.com/historicaldownloads.shtml

There were enough remnant forces in the LMC to work with the Operation Unity task forces, and eventually to try and re-take their old words. (Or, at least, what was left of each planet after the Andromedans had done with them.)

I'm not sure if there's ever been a case of plant or animal life from M31 itself found on any occupied planets, however. There have been reports of them transplanting specimens from one workd to another, for reasons known only to themselves. (Perhaps ADB want to keep the nature of life in M31 unknown, as part of the broader mystery behind the Andromedans themselves.)

I would imagine Sargasso might be a tough ask, based on how it is described so far; with the storms dividing the variosus safe zones so common, it may be hard for them to connect one enclave to another via the RTN, only to have to do it again when the connection is severed by the next round of storms.

There were a few hints given by SVC in a prior podcast about what happened when the Andromedans tried to establish themselves in the Xorkaelian sphere of influence. If the final published material is anything like the story told there, it'll be bad news... for the Andros.

Better a weak and politically divided Romulan Empire than a large void filled up by the Andromedans. For the Gorn and Federation better the devil you know.

Of course attacking everyone at once made a lot less strategic sense than knocking off races one at a time. The Andromedan plan to simultaneously invade the entire Milky Way galaxy pretty much invites defeat in detail.

More accurately it was the Andros against absolutely everyone else

No one was ever given the option to be neutral or to side with the Andros who basically attacked everyone with genocidal intent.

The few who stood alone (WYN, LDR) demonstrated what would happen to the other races if they tried to go it solo.

Much as it was distasteful to actually aid (or for us Gorn to stand and let the Feds aid) the Romulans, letting them be wiped out and giving the Andros the resources of the Romulan worlds to build new fleets was far far worse.

while it was the Andromedans vs. everyone else the andromedans had spent decades building their RTN and gathering intel on everyone in the Milky way before they launched their 1st wave from the LMC and very nearly conquered everyone.
