Rogue Telepath (BLIP)

I've made up a Blip class for the people who want to play a rogue telepath, Ive yet to start my senario (Ive a D&D to finish as well as a Marvel Universe RPG trial).

So, i'm after some feedback.

Anyone willing to playtest or help?

The only things i have changed are Telpathy and Knowledge: Telepathy to cross class skills in that department, to reflect the fact that they have not been trained.

I'm taking the Blip to have avoided the psi-corp.

So why is a new class needed? What is wrong with just using the Telepath class and writing your personal history to be a rogue?

What specifics did you change, and why were these changes needed?

Yes. You could use at the first few character levels the Telepath class. Once the character becomes a blip (meaning 'on the list' for unlicensed telepath currently not on sleepers - in other words: on the run) you could use the Lurker or even the Agent classes, because the character will very unlikely receive any form of PSI-training, while he or she is a fugitive, but might learn how to avoid becoming noticed by the authorities and how to get along as an outlaw (a blip).

The telepath class is from the perspective of already being trained as it has to be generic enough to cover the various races.

Some psi abilities use the word trained, and various time the word trained is used. a blip has never been trained.

The blip class is a mix of lurker and telepath. Which i feel makes it more well rounded as a runaway that has avoided the Psi Corp at all costs.

I specifically made the class for a player in my group. And as not to compicate matters i made them all play humans. He is playing a blip from the start, so the Teleplath class isnt appropriate.

You could have him start his character as Telepath level 1 and Lurker level 1. There is no need to create a new class only to be able to start a character at level 1 in this new class. Babylon 5 d20 is balanced enough, that such a double classed character will not upset the power balance of characters in a PC group. Depending on his further actions he will be able to take as new levels either Telepath or Lurker or something else - whatever is appropriate for the actual adventures this character had to live through.

Not quite balanced enough. A player has to start a character as a Telepath first, then become another class if they are a blip. Alyssa Benton started as a Lurker, then became a Telepath in the Series.

I understand using some kind of Feat to have a Psi Potential at character creation to stay with the spirit of the show. This is why Ivanova was so parinoid of the Psi Corps. Even as a P0 or P1 she would be out of Earth Force. Game over thanks for playing.

Rogue is a prestige class in the new EA book according to the spoiler that Matt put out. So we could just wait and see what he does.

This is as close as I can find now...

I cannot seem to find any of the older threads...

The Earth Alliance Fact Book
Spanning 200 sumptuous full colour pages, this hardback book is the very latest in the Babylon 5 line, providing everything players and Games Masters need to know about setting scenarios or characters within the Earth Alliance. Humanity's stronghold among the stars, the Earth Alliance is a union of colonies which are fully detailed in this sourcebook. Here, fans of Babylon 5 will learn the complete history of humanity's reach for the stars, discover the true nature of the Psi Corps and gain access to hundreds of new prestige classes, feats and items of equipment. Also fully detailed are the military forces of the Earth Alliance, including all new spacecraft designs such as the Omega-class Destroyer.

In the EA Fact Book (at least, as it was when I submitted the manuscript to Mongoose...they may have changed it for all I know), blip is not a prestige class, but a separate class from telepath. You CAN multiclass into blip, but you cannot be a multiclass blip/telepath. Blip is a dangerous class to play...if Psi Corps catches you, they send you to a reindoctrination center, mess with your head, and you come out as a 1st level telepath with most of your old personality gone. Blips gain telepath feats less quickly than telepaths, and their max P-rating is limited by their level since they have to train themselves. However, they are adept at hiding their telepathic abilities (psychic stealth), pick up patrons who help hide them from the Corps, and can employ mind bursts as a desperation move in the event of certain capture. If you want to play a human character who's hiding his telepathic abilities from the Corps, you play a blip.

Also, just to keep your appetite whetted for this book, there are telepath prestige classes for the black ops specialist (they can become "invisible" by making people just not notice them), bloodhound (telepath hunter), teek (move stuff with your mind), telepathic monk (uses psi abilities to enhance his own body), and psi experiment (a result of PsiCorps modifications, you receive random and unpredictable powers and flaws...you can even evolve into godhood).

Aha! Somone else who knows that a blip isnt the same as a telepath (as far as the 1st book goes...)

I wonder how far different the one you put in the EA book is from the one i created??

If U R interested in seeing what i cooked up :-
