Hey all,

Looks like my initial post was lost in the Crash of '08 so I'll once again shamelessly self-promote...

Exploding Goat Games is about to release Apocalypse-Z and my guess is that you won't have too much trouble figuring out the "Z"...

We've tried to includea ton of the cliches' from the zombie genre but still keep it a sound, fun, challenging, playable game... Its being released as a supplement for Battlefield Evolution so it shoud be ready once the OGL is released.

If anyone is interested in playtesting the rules, give me an email at jayhyland@explodinggoatgame.com. and I'll get a copy out to you.

Thanks for listening,

Jay

To conteract some slippage in this topic...

Bump!

We're wrapping up the playtesting on Apocalypse-Z and the editing is in full swing! We should be ready to go as soon as the Battlefield Evolution OGL is released! This game has a huge Resident Evil feel to it and should satisfy any zombie lover's craving!

Jay

Y'know there certainly is a lot of source material out there for a Resident Evil RPG. A lot more than I might have guessed.

* Several video games. (I don't play 'em but I know they're out there.)
* Three movies.
* At least 6 novels.

Seems like this would be a worthwhile project for Mongoose, especially with a miniatures line to support it.

Oh, and for easy zombie-slaying action you might look into Zombies!!! by Twilight Creations. They make a very simple board game with geomorphic tiles and plastic minis (but not painted) and a half-dozen expansion sets. They even have zombie dogs, glow-in-the-dark zombies, and you can buy a bag o' babes to go along with it. Not too complex to play.

Well... the hard work paid off! We here at Exploding Goat Games got accepted as a Flaming Cobra imprint company and Apocalypse-Z is now officially an Evo supplement. Its due out in November 2008 and you can preorder it on this very site in just a little bit.

We'll be at Historicon in Lancaster, PA starting today!!!! There's even a few pre-release copies for sale at the Mongoose booth in the vendor hall!

Thanks for listenin'

Here's a blog review of the Apocalypse-Z pre-release:

This is entirely what a gaming review should be, well thought-out, with constructive critiques. I was overall very pleased with the review and thankful to Robert (CCotD) for the time he spent.

Have no fear my friend. Apocaylpse-Z has all of that. The standard humans are fairly set but most of the zombie units can have upgrades, called Augmentations, to most of their stats (at a points cost though...nothing in life is free :wink: )

The Zombie Overlord has a selection of pyschic powers from which to choose. These psychic powers allow for ranged attack, command undead (similar to the 1st ed. Evo "Command" ability), and more.

The human (The Enclave) faction has Heroic Abilities that allow them to make a few units (the Watcher Lieutenant and Police Sergeant) very dynamic. There are also three Enclave characters with special abilities, rules, and backgrounds.

We plan on releasing further books expanding a bit on the zombie selections but most certainly providing several new human factions. Since the outbreak of the zombie virus, only pockets of civilization survive (we know...chiche', but it was intended that way) and each area has its own strengths, weaknesses, and flavor. The current faction, The Enclave, is based in West Point, NY and is comprised largely of emergency responders, former military, and civilians.

We hope to have supplements covering the ChronoCorp International (the big corporate entity responsible for the outbreak) Security Forces and we've tossed around the idea of a faction of "Billy-Bob" rednecks (think pickup trucks, budweiser, and shotguns...maybe even NASCAR-type racing units...who knows).

So far, we've sold out the entire pre-release run between conventions and our local gaming store. The response has been pretty darn good and we've even enlisted some volunteers to run games at autumn conventions. Check these out on our forums (via our website).

You can pre-order the book through Mongoose. Its due out in November so...doom is looming on the horizon.

My 1500th post is being used to necro my long time request to have Mongoose publish an official Resident Evil RPG! It's like printing money Mongoose - lets get his party started! 8)

For the love of Pete...

Don't look now, but another Resident Evil movie (Afterlife) is being released this September. This franchise is HUGE. I'll keep pounding the drums for Mongoose to pickup the license.
