Reference cards

Will the ACTA Star Fleet reference cards have multiples of different ships? I preordered them yesterday and am wondering what the composition will be. Will it accomodate the ships from the fleet boxes?

Yes, yes, and yes! We will be doing a preview of the cards on Planet Mopngoose hopefully tomorrow.

:D Awesomo. I've started painting my SF ships and it's got me psyched for the game again. Also are the transfers shipping at the moment or is there a waiting period?

I'll be putting some photo's up soon of my new stuff. I think you'll love the really simple conversion I've done to the shuttles. Think my ATCA NA fighters will be getting the same treatment.

They are shipping right now!

Was not expecting them to be double sided :? (except maybe different ships on each side)

Bit of pain and means possible smudging etc...

I Would have thought that, as per previous fan made versions, could get all the relevant info on one side of the card.......

I like them like that, smaller footprint on the table. The only thing I'd have preferred was if the critical hit tracks noted shield/speed/AD losses at each level, but that's not a big deal.

Aside from the double sided bit and smears etc the thing that I noticed is that there is no name on the back for the ship.

With the cards damage up so you can see how bad they are you cannot see the name, with the cards name up you need to turn them over to see the damage. Little thing but something that would have been handy with multiple ships of the same type in the fleet.

I also see a great potential for smudging/rubbing off marks on the backside of the cards.

I could have lived without the picture in order to get everything on one side.

I think I will stick with the ship cards I already have.

What size are these cards? 3x5, 8.5x5.5? I would prefer a larger card if it meant getting everything one side. Cards can still be double sided with 2 different ships. So instead of 90 cards for 90 ships I could see 45 cards covering 90 ships.

I agree..........

previous examples that worked really well:

Here's a neat trick for all the bellyaching about smudging :-)

On a laminated card, use a Sharpie permanent marker (fine point or otherwise, and any non-metallic colour). Yes,you read that right. Those won't smudge at all :D

After the game, too erase just rub a dry erase whiteboard marker over the areas you marked with your Sharpies. It must be a marker used on whiteboards. The solvents or whatever is used in whiteboard markers turns the Sharpie markings into whiteboard-like markers and you can just wipe them off with a tissue... Cool!

I learned trick this whilst at a con earlier this year. I was mortified we were to use Sharpies on nice laminated cards for a game I was playing. But this worked a treat. So now I use this same trick - got a few black Sharpies and a couple whiteboard 'eraser' markers for post-game cleanup.

Hope this helps!

Epic Army Card my personal favourite! I'm not too fussed about single sided. If you have multiples of a few ships then you only use one front and as many backs as required. You don't need reminding of a ships weapons and maneuvering stats on every card do you?

No you dont.

And here I was making my own set of ship cards...though I may go aheadand finish them anyway. None of us heard about the game before the minis went offline. So we have to proxy ships as well.

@ Rerednaw

check out the resources thread in the Others Minature section - there is much goodness to be had - not least are the really excellent ship cards
