Redoing FTL Drive for mtu

F33D

Mongoose
This is cross between hyper & jump drive I guess.

Changes from CRB
Fuel = 5% per parsec X hull volume.
Uses same drive size table as Jump drives
Based around 6 days (144 hours) instead of 7 (168 hours)
Traveling less than drive rating takes less time. (A Type S would cover 1 parsec in 72 hours)
If fuel available you can continue to travel further. Example, if a Type S carried twice the fuel (20 tons under these rules) it could travel 4 parsecs in 12 days (288 hours).
[edit] Like MT, The drive is its own power plant. The ships main PP doesn't power this drive so, doesn't have to be the same or greater than the Hyperdrive.

Looks cool math-wise. Had some flavor questions on your MTU:
Can ship's out of normal space (don't know what you call it) detect each other or ships in normal space and vice versa?
Can ship's fight each other?
Can a ship drop back to normal space at any time (with some proportional distance moved) and then leave out again?

I've thought about doing something like this but have been just too lazy to come up with a chart.
Thanks, think I'll lift this chart. 8)
One thing that I do like that you changed actually fits into the mongoose mechanics. 6 second combat round, 6 minute space combat round, 6 day jump.
sign of the beast!?

Like Trav, ships outside normal space are undetectable to each other and to those in normal space.
A ship in hyperspae can't detect anything outside its own normal space bubble. Destination is preset at time of entering Hyper space. No course changes can be made.

If one were to shut down their hyperdrive prematurely, it precipitate the equivalent of a <10 diameter misjump result. You MAY end up proportionately along your course or, some other nasty result.

N.B. Forgot this one. Like MT, The drive is its own power plant. The ships main PP doesn't power this drive so, doesn't have to be the same or greater than the Hyperdrive...
