I would like to take this opportunity to point fellow Travellers in the direction of the Star Frontiersman (http://starfrontiersman.com/downloads/starfrontiersman)...an excellent magazine for the defunct game of Star Frontiers.

I am just wondering why Matt & co. do not seize upon the artists that grace this magazine and incorporate them into the Traveller mainstream. Also, why not build links between what were T$R properties and the new MGT. The two have had an uneasy coexistance since the TSR-GDW spat but now surely MGT can mend the bridges.

A very good proposal, I think. :)

Both the old Star Frontiers material and the issues of the Star Frontiers-
man contain lots of material that could be useful for Traveller campaigns,
too.

And the cover art of the latest Star Frontiersman issues was indeed out-
standing.

I never attempted to post there, only read the news and downloaded
material, but this at least was possible without any problems.

BTW, am I the only one who gets a "Suspended Account" when trying to access the star frontiersman site?

Nope. I can't even get to their homepage. It redirects to http://alexandria26.2mhost.com/suspended.page/ and says "This Account Has Been Suspended. Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible. "

I get the same message too.
Both for starfrontiersman.com and starfrontiers.us
(they were both working fine a few days ago)
In fact, they were working fine yesterday.

I think you'll find many of the SF community at http://www.starfrontiers.org and its forum, and at http://starfrontiers.homelinux.net/ and its forum at http://starfrontiers.homelinux.net/forum/index.php . May be the same people involved.

IIRC, the Starfrontiersman site and magazine have been up and down for the past few months as its owner has been said to be busy or away or both. I read on RPGnet that the last mag had to be posted somewhere else because they couldn't get ahold of the original guy. Something like that, sorry, don't recall the details.

The mag and the energy that people have put into it, though, is really commendable. I'm just not sure that fans of Star Frontiers are all that interested in Traveller. They seem to be less constrained by the concepts of "official universe" and canon. I bookmarked the last issue (9?) at http://starfrontiers.homelinux.net/SFMan/

Ah, not all Traveller fans are married to the OTU and its canon ...

Star Frontiers was my first owned rpg, so you could say it was my first love, in rpg terms. Certainly kept me way from Traveller back then, as with limited funds it was only worth investing in one game.

The adventures were top notch, and the setting felt, even back then, way more filled in than the OTU still does today. I think that had a lot to do with Larry Elmore and Jeff Easley. It was an accesible setting to game in.

When I discovered that it was all up there on the interweb to download for free legally I nearly wet myself. It's great to be able to read through all the stuff I could never afford, and all the stuff that got lost. Starfrontiersman is a nicely produced product. I doubt I'd use anything in it, as I find the rules quite clunky now even in comparison to CT, and most certainly MGT, but it's a great bit of nostalgia.

Hmmm, might be interesting to work up a set of Frontier based MGT careers, with Spica's nifty blank career sheets. I'd love to see Yazirians and Dralasites in Traveller format. :)

And now its back...

I never really cared for the settings that TSR build...although, I never hesitated to steal from them. It seemed that they were too dependant upon their fantasy heritage by using aliens as demi-humans. That is what I have always loved about Traveller is that it put the humans first. So when I played them...I played like Traveller.

However, one thing that was always great about TSR and as one can see even in fan projects like this one is the art. Star Frontiersman has either stolen the art or got it really cheap...but shouldn't Mongoose try to get something like that for the Traveller line...the last issue of Starfrontiersman's cover just screams Traveller to me, at least.
