Ragged Edge (Spoilers may be present!!! Yes, I mean it!)

Myrm

Mongoose
OK, at some stage soon I will be running a group through Cold Equations and Ragged Edge.

Having read through the adventure I note one area that as a potential GM I forsee some problems...so Id like to ask a question or two of those who have run a group through the adventure.

And this is where the spoilers begin so a few >>>> line breaks are called for methinks.

The section of the adventure with the Gaim queen facility.

How on earth are people expected to get in. Either Im missing something in the text or expectations of response, or the place seems pretty much watertight and the only sensible option is to call for a fleet to bomb the place back to the mesolithic.

How are PCs expected to get in, as even the idea of capture seems remote (despite a section on how to handle the event)? How did you handle their attempts?

Thanks for any discussion...

The easiest way in is to hijack or stowaway on board one of the shuttles, either the ones from Canyon City or the ones from the pig farm. Alternatively, characters could try flying a shuttle underneath the station's radar over the minefield, or picking up electronics gear and using that to locate the mines.

The characters could also just get captured by the base security and thrown in with the telepaths, and escape from there.

Yep, that's what my group did. The pilots have to have SOME time away from the base, so they stalked one and bagged him, then threatened him until he flew them in.

I made it a little easier on them, in that they got a pilot who wasn't particularly loyal to begin with, so they were able to mix bribery in with the threats so that it went down well enough.

Thanks guys, that gives em enough to go work on ideas for how my lot will do it. Couple of big obvious ones that I just didnt think of there.

For my group I modified it slightly, had a food production facility nearby, who supply the research station... the group entered pretending to be the next shipment (by a little planning their cargo actually was the next shipment) and they got in that way...

With a few lucky rolls, no one noticed them... and they got out asap when they found out what was happening...
