Quick plasma bug assembly question...

Mongoose
I've got three plasma bugs to get through, and I'm wondering, does the rear end go inside or outside the thorax?

Leaving it outside means the cannon can be aimed higher, but leaving it inside seems to be the natural fit for the model.

Has anyone had any balance problems with this model?

Any addt'l tips or tricks for assembly?

I put mine together and it sort of lops over. I cannot remember off hand how the model goes together, but try blue tacking it first to see, put together the other bits first.

It partially laps over.
Just glue the thorax together, plug the rear in and you will see.

You don't need weight in the head just use the lower abdomen wing to keep balance (mount it that it touches the ground).
btw my third is on the way :)

Yeah, but I thought it was supposed to aim up on the air...

Placing it inside the middle abdomen let you notch it upwards, and the back of the middle abdomen seems to mate firmly well with the rear end. Like it's supposed to, so you can glue it and not have the entire weight of the model being held by the "ring" of the middle abdomen.

Is this not the case?

I don't see many different ways of assembling the model. I did the same as S-T chipmunk above did, by loading the head area with weight. For mine, I glued a combination of ball bearings and neodymium magnets into the head area and forward thorax. What it did for me was to not only counterweight the model to stabilize it (for some weird reason I wanted the bottom wing to be above ground and not touch it). Weighting the head and thorax area allowed this. I glued the weights so that I could also pivot the head (using the magnets against the ball bearings) as well as to detach the head.

From the views of the other models here though, there isn't much of a difference in the end result. By trying to elevate the rear as much as I could, my model's head rests upon the table. It ends up looking as if he is trying to "squeeze one out"...
