In another post I asked if Shadow FIghters can all start the battle in play. The answer I recieved said no they cannot. By that logic it takes 6 turns to get all craft of the big ship and 2 for the younger. this seems silly to me. If that is the case the only other option than waiting is to blow a turn of shooting to get the fighters out via dispersal tube. This has to be an oversight or the dumbest thing in the world.

Thoughts?

Well other ships follow this exact same restriction. The only difference being is any other army besides my beloved Shadows can use the Scramble! Scramble! special action to pop out 1 more fighter. Also since they can start the game with 1 out you are actually looking at 5 turns not 6. The Dispersal Tube isn't REALLY that bad, this is something I have been thinking of but I can't seem to find anything prohibiting a ship from dropping out its fighters in Hyperspace before they warp in. If this is true then you could drop them out in Hyperspace using the Tube and then phase in where needed.

If you think its a oversight then its something you should talk to Mongoose about, since I am simply telling you how it is. I personally always thought it was stupid that when shot form a dispersal tube they cannot move or do anything. It would'nt bother me so much if our fighters were worth a damn.

Don't the Shadow Ships that carry fighters have the Fighter Dispersal Tube? If so then they can pick a point with the range list and place all their fighter within 3 " of that spot. Sounds like a better way to launch fighter then all other ships.

Where was it rules that they disperse fighters like all other fleets?

The rule in their section clearly says "Any ship that has Fighter Dispersal Tubes automatically comes equipped with a full compliment of Shadow Fighters for free. These fighters may be deployed with the rest of the Shadow fleet, regardless of normal scenario restrictions."

I know that in our group we've let the Shadow player take this to mean literally that.

I've noticed that the wording on the Psi Corps is rather more ambiguous however.

I interpreted that to mean they don't have to be stuck in the ship with the dispersal tube the only way of letting them out. Then again the only reason I pay attention to my fighters now is because we get them for free, so I wouldn't mind just dropping them out at the start of the game.
