Question About Unique Characters

Judge Dredd has the "unique" special rule but other named mercenary heroes do not (Judge-Inspector Inaba and both DeMarcos). Should these heroes also be unique or is it acceptable to include 2 or more Inabas in one force? For that matter, can a force include both Judge DeMarco and DeMarco PI?

Also, whatever the answer to these questions will it also apply to Anderson, Giant, Hershey, Nero Narcos etc once they have rules?

Also, in a campaign what happens if a player adds Judge Dredd (or any other unique character if any of them are) to his force permanently using the Loyal Follower talent? Are there any restrictions on other forces including Dredd from that point on? If not, you could wind up with Dredd fighting himself.

Given Dredd's universe... that may not be that surprising.

When we've been playing campaigns, I've worked with the idea that when a character becomes permanent due to "Loyal Follower" - the character is "removed" from the available list of Unique Characters for hire.

Well, I suppose he IS a clone. Or one of them cold be Kraken. Or something .

I'm considering something like this, I just wondered if there was an "official" solution.

Plus there's the other questions I raised about which characters are "unique" since only Dredd has this rule.

Yea, that is true - about Dredd I mean.

In our future campaigns we will also "apply" this rule to Judge-Inspector Inaba, Judge DeMarco, Judge Anderson, & Judge Giant (obviously we have yet to see rules for the last two) and whoever "comes along" - and that "prompts" me to wonder why (so far) Judge-Inspector Inaba and Judge DeMarco aren't also "unique".

In our current Campaign, Dredd is a permanent part of my Justice Department Force - but as mine is the only Force of Judges, it's not really an issue LoL!

Rules may not prohibit it but I personally wouldn't include two and would very strongly frown on anyone using more than two of the obviously same personality. OTOH if your opponent is OK with it then I don't see a problem with having even more Dredds than one, but that's another story actually.

I've personally long advocated the method used in some other games (AT-43 may have been one but I may misremember) that if any two players end up selecting the same personality by any means whatsoever, then neither is allowed to actually field the personality (and just in case you want to publicly disagree, please try to think of an original excuse for allowing it -- I've heard quite a few already ). It can trivially be extended to duplicates used by one and the same player.

Or the Hordes/Warmachine approach where both players can field the character as one is an imposter? Dredd is a clone so cloning another famous personality for devious reasons wouldn't be impossible (and give a good reason for some extreme prejudice...)
