Pseudo-science (OR a question about jump drive physics)

1) Unless our docking procedures included a way for the lanthium grids of the two ship to link up, we shouldn't have been able to jump.

IMTU, I'm making this an assumed possibility. It will require a difficult Engineering task check and 1d6 hours to make sure the lanthanum grids are connected, and synced up, though. It will also effectively take the second jump drive off-line, thus "preventing" the jump within a jump scenario.

I'm going that route, because I figure that you're going to have bigger ships needing/wanting to take smaller ships with them through jump space often enough for it to be a "standard emergency", if infrequently used procedure, particularly among Navy and Scout ships.

While I see some potential for abuse, it does require that one of the ships have a large enough drive and fuel capacity. That shoudl mean it will be more useful for me as the GM controlling lots of naval and government vessels than it will be for the PCs to exploit.
