Proofing with a Word document?

Stainless

Mongoose
Having had just the briefest skim through the draft, I'm struck by the number of typos. It's a beta after all. I'm happy to report these but it will be veeeery tedious because the source is a pdf. With a Word version, one can use Track Changes which really speeds things up (not only the reporting but for the subsequent correcting). Any chance of a Word version (sans illustrations, etc.)?

It's funny - no matter how many times I swept for typos, new ones kept cropping up like fungi.
I have this issue with some stuff at work. I feel for you, but trust you will conquer it in the end.

Hey folks. I just bought the beta over drivethrurpg and I can't seem to find the "drafts" of the other books?

Does anyone know how to get these books for the beta? Cheers

The other books aren't part of it yet, they are still being worked on but will be included when they are ready.

The real question is why don't they run it through a spelling and grammar checker in the first place? That's baffled me about all of their books. It wouldn't catch every mistake, especially grammatical ones, but it'd catch the majority.

As far as a word doc, you can export it, I just checked. Under File, save as other...

The text file is what you want, the online stuff appears to require a monthly adobe subscription.

Edit: Hmm...I wonder how many of these are just variances between American English and English English spellings? :)

English spellings are Mongoose Publishing's standard.

Believe me when I say that I've run those babies through so many spellchecks, and yet there's that whole fungal analogy. They're like athlete's foot - you think you have it licked ...

Well typos also include things like double words or the wrong word being used which a spell check won't find. Still need the Mk I human eye to check.

Which makes sense considering where they are located. :) I'm learning there are a lot more differences in spelling between the two than I realized.

Word has a grammar check that is pretty good at catching most of those too. I've exported it to a text file and started going through it for spelling errors. Will run the grammar check later.

You'll be getting an update soon - want everyone to be comfortable with the core book first.
