Progress on 2e

Shadows I plan to do Shadows and Vorlons when i get into the game more tell me there going to do more with the Shadows like more ships or varients and stuff.

I think Shadows are going to be limited to 3 different models - the 'Ship', the 'Scout' and their fighters, with an Armageddon and War PL variant of the 'Ship'. Maybe Mongoose will release a remodelled (smaller) Ship model for the War PL version, but who knows.
You can't really expect much variety when all that is seen of them in the show is those 3 ships.

Much the same for Vorlons.

well as of yet we havent started looking at Shadows or Vorlons in as much detail as some of the other fleets

We saw how many EA ships in the show?

Hyperion
Omega
Artemis
Nova
Warlock?
Explorer

6 ships? Was there any others?

Now remind me how many ships EA currently has?

Howabout Narns?

T'Loth, G'Quan.

Could swear Narn fleet has more than 2 ships available...

Centauri then?

Vorchan/Demos, Primus

Hmmm...I'm seeing common pattern...

If Mongoose wishes they can expand shadows and vorlons beyond the show. They have done that for other races. Why not shadows and vorlons?

Why not indeed. Probably because they like having these races skewed into the higher PLs, who knows? Perhaps they're trying to stick to fluff. Even the smallest Vorlon ambassador's transport is supposedly equal to most races' warships. Same for Shadows.

Mongoose have certainly had no qualms about producing bespoke Armageddon ships for almost every race (and now entertain sharing them between races just for the sake of it), why aren't they fleshing out certain PLs for races which are lacking in ships?

The Vorlon LC is also a creation of Mongoose, IIRC - and rumours abound of an even higher PL Star Dreadnought (honestly, what's the point?!).

no it wasnt
it was from Babylon 5 Wars when there were lots of Vorlon varients (a scout, light carrier, heavy carrier + a few others)

personally i think the Vorlons need 1 ship at most pl levels and thats all they need they're ancients after all

Well people say they are ancients and so their ship designs should all be standardized because they are the top of evolution, blah blah. I say the opposite. If the Vorlons are so advanced, then each Vorlon would be advanced and clever enough to build his/her/its own custom spaceship design. So there should really be several million different ships for the Vorlons :P

So howabout heavy fighter?

Fighter carrier ability for one thing comes to mind. Variety for second.

As it is right now it is hard to even FIELD fighters...Especially in bigger battles.

Personally I would *love* to see some Shadow (and Vorlon) variants...and can chime in with those who would also want just a little bit more choice from the PL levels please! Pretty please :)

I was all for the option of personality changes from S&P, but many felt they were imbalanced.

Yes, carriers are conspicuously missing. Yes, the first ones' fighters still seem to be reduced to using jump gates to travel around the galaxy, and not having scouts to co-ordinate their ships... but hey.

vorlon fighters are only ever seen in escort of other vorlon ships so they can use that jump point, not having to use a JG. even if vorlon fighters have AJP they cant create their own JP :)

I think you mean the Olympus not the Artemis, the Artemis never appeared in the show.

Not that that changes anything, still means there were only 6 ships that appeared...

Says who? Just because it isn't seen, doesn't mean they can't do it. Given the mastery of the races over hyperspace I'd say that it's pretty likely they /can/ do it.
And how can they escort ships through JPs in the current rules? you can only have 2 ship-launched flights escorting each ship. Or are you suggesting removing that restriction so that seperately bought wings can start in hyperspace and that any no. can escort a ship out? (there certainly were plenty of them in Interludes and Examinations).

well the rules says fightes cant open jump points otherwise WS fighters would be able to :)
and as burger pointed out its 4 flights per ship.
if you have more than that well just use a transport to hold a JP open so more fighters can come through.
no one else has fighters that can open JPs, yes WS fighters have the AJP but then they cost a skirmish point for one fighter and still has to rely on other ships to open JPs for it. also if you didnt escort a ship in then your fighters would be left in hyperspace anyway even with AJP as once the ship that opens the JP comes through it closes and fighters move after this so the only way to get fighters through wether having their own JP or not is on escort, so what differance doe sit make? sure lets give vorlon fighters AJP and reduce them to 2 per wing ;)

I thought the best a carrier could even launch was 2?
At the game setup, yes Fleet Carrier allows you to start with 2 launched. But fighter support in general, can be up to 4 flights per ship. So potentially up to 4 flights can come through a JP with each capital ship.

Yup everyone (except the Americans) seems to realise Arthur fought against the Saxons.

That's the problem with all you Irish - always grouping an entire country's people into a single stereotype.

and that's the problem with making assumptions, I'm not Irish!

anyway I was only teasing
