Pricing works of art

So, in our Clockwork & Chivalry campaign, on of the PCs decided he would have a portrait comissioned of the group. How the heck do I price that, I thought.

We guessed at 150-200 sp.

Is there any rule that covers the cost of bespoke items created by craftsmen?

Arms & Equipment has rules for crafting items.

It also has a section on hirelings. Painter, artiste is listed, wage per day is 10 sp for a person with Craft(Painting) at 65%, with a footnote that if you buy something from them, there may be an additional charge. If you figure it would take the artist two to three weeks, then it sounds like you nailed it with 150-200 sp.

This thread has just conjured up visions of a Runequest/legens antiques roadshow! 'Ah...this does look very much like the original Windsword but if you closely examine the runes engraved on the pommel...hmm...I'd have it insured for...'
