Prep for fleet arrival

We just put in an order for our fleets. Three of us are embarking into the game

anyway to prepare I want to seek out a game mat, likely a black cloth of some sort.

The question is how large a mat do we need?

Any hints on what to add in terms of meteror fields etc (what makes good terrain easily)?

You could also buy a piece or 2 of plexiglass and, using a brush of some kind (I'm told toothbrushes work best), spray on some stars in white, blue, and/or orange, then a normal can of spray paint to put on the black background...

A pair of 2x3 pieces of plexi aren't very expensive and you can get them at any place you can get glass...

for your standard game you need probebly a 6 x 4 rectangle out of whatever material you can find.

A good fabric store will have lots of options to choose from.

I went and spent on a Hotz Mat, but for Victory at Sea I just use a large piece of Denim.

I think a surface with some friction is good for stopping accidental movement.
