Mongoose
Evening all,
I'm a long time member of Traveller and I've picked up at least the main book for each version/variant. On 9/13/08 I picked up the latest offering from Mongoose and what I have looked at is very good. Unfortunately, I seem to have a slight puzzle in the Spacecraft Design chapter.
I'm using the Scout, Type S on page 115 to go through the design steps. From the ship data card the Scout has a fuel load-out of 40 tons.
Computing the Jump Drive fuel requirement I get 20 tons which leaves 20 tons of fuel for operating the power plant for 10 weeks.
Going to the Power Plant Tons of Fuel per 2 weeks at the bottom of page 107 a Power Plant A requires 2 tons of fuel per 2 weeks. I determined that 10 weeks of fuel, if I understand the text, requires
(10 weeks/2 weeks) x 2 tons of fuel = 5 x 2 = 10 tons of space for fuel. My calculations show that I'm 10 tons short from the data from the ship card.
Did I read the text wrong?
