Possible Simple Sensor Rules

Emperor Mongoose
Any craft is automatically detected while using active sensors, EW, reaction drives, or transmitting long range radio; if at Very Distant range or closer.
Sensor tasks get a DM -4 without active sensors.
Sensor Lock requires active sensors.
You get an automatic Sensor Lock (even w/o active) on any ship while they are using reaction drives.

Most taken from other threads, but simplified. Note most say automatically, so no roll.
Many of you have thought much more about this, so add, remove, or change as needed, but please keep it simple so it can be used for multiple ships.

That's a bunch of core changes.

Why automatic sensor lock on reaction drives? Unless you mean they can still be broken? Otherwise hell no - too powerful.

I do think we need slimmer sensor rules for fleet combat

Whether the reaction drive is a chemical rocket, fusion rocket, or even a ion drive you are ejecting very large amounts of highly energetic matter directly abaft. This will light up the enemies sensors like a christmas tree, I imagine.

So it's a guaranteed detection.. but not guaranteed versus jamming right?

I meant permanent Sensor Lock as long as the reaction drive is activated, but that is perhaps to harsh...
