My 2 cents...well..it cost more than that but...a lot of the models have fitting issues...try the Octurian or and Adira. To do a decent job you gotta have the right tools when working with pewter...they are WORTH every bit and make the hobby a lot more fun..aside from xactos and the usual stuff you gotta have:
1. A Pin vise for pinning and drilling out gun ports etc...yup about $25 with a decent bit set...ITS WORTH IT.
2 A Dremel with sanding and grinding wheels...a must to shave off excess flash and to get parts to mesh and cleaning a model up...will save you hours. Maybe $50 now with a kit?
3. Jewelers files for "cutting in" those hard to get places and fine-tuning away any flash and molding lines. Not sure how much a set is but it cant be that bad.
4. 5 minute Epoxy that is a 2 tube type of thing for what...$4 maybe...mix a little batch up on a 2" wide piece of masking tape to glue 2 body halves together or to get fins and sails of the starships TO HOLD AND STAY IN PLACE...super glue is great but if you really need a STRONG hold..get the Epoxy tube...it sands down easy too and is good at filling in those gigantic gaps one might have...
5. Cheap brass bristled brushes for scrubbing down the model to polish it up in prep for priming.
Pin often (you wont be sorry), be patient, wash your models before priming, use brass rods for stems, and always either gloss clear coat or flat clear coat the finished ship to protect the paint job and to give it that final touch, lastly an airbrush is the cat's meow but they are expensive...but ohhhh are they nice and save time not to mention a better quality paint job
