Just wanted to let everyone know how everything is getting on!
First off, thank you for all your comments thus far - they have been extremely useful. The Core Rulebook is just getting updated with your latest suggestions and it is looking very solid. I am looking forward to getting this book out into the wider world!
The changes being made now are getting increasingly smaller, which means we have nailed the larger issues. The Big Thing coming in the next update, likely next week, is the fixing of the 'Vehicle Damage' problem. It looks like we have got a system in place now that scales up perfectly across all combatants, from single Travellers to huge Dreadnoughts, and allows a seamless transition across that traditional problem area, aerospace fighters/high tech grav tanks and Small Craft.
We are doing the final tweaks now, and no doubt there will be all sorts of bits and pieces you chaos will spot, but we are confident the core mechanics are solid and we'll just be worrying about individual cases, such as weapon damage.
Once this is done, the Vehicle Handbook will be ready to be previewed/playtested, and we are expecting that to be in your playtest pack next week, along with a revision of the CSC.
Which just leaves High Guard!
This is actually a fair bit further along the development process compared to the Vehicle Handbook, but has just been waiting for one last component to fall into place before I can happily send it out. This, funnily enough, has been relying upon work on the Vehicle Handbook and now that is just about done, we can crack on with High Guard.
Assuming our noses are kept to the grindstone, this book may well appear in your playtest packs as well next week, giving you a fair ton of material to work through! It is also the last 'core' component of Traveller, so while there will be bits and pieces you will not have seen (such as the idea of 'Advanced' Careers that we are currently playing with), you will have in your hands all core components of the new edition.
All this means that we are currently on track to complete playtesting at the end of December and be in print around March next year!
