Play aids

Not resting on our laurels, two more play aids for Traveller are planned this year. First, a giant and fully detailed poster map of the Spinward Marches (which, if it proves popular, we'll continue doing for other sectors as we expand the universe - you are going to need a pretty big wall to fit everything!). Second, a Character Record Pack for Traveller, much in the spirit of the old Ultimate Character Record Sheet we did for D20. This will include, well, just about everything you need for your Traveller character, from equipment and psionics, to ship maintenance pages and trading records, all bound together in one handy booklet. Like the Ultimate Character Record Sheet, we'll be selling this one for a very reasonable price, meaning you should never lose details of your character ever again!

I've never seen a Character Record Pack. What are they like? How much do they cost? Do you buy one for each character? Or do you buy it once and photocopy it? My players have 2 or 3 characters each depending on who could make it to the gaming session.

Well I'm sure there are people out there that eat that kind of stuff up. As for me, I'm more of a 'less is more' kind of guy. My favorite character sheets are the ones that fit on a index card. In fact I love those half sheet sized ones DigitalMage graciously provided the masses here with.

As for the poster map, it would be nice if they made a blank wall sized sector/subsector map! 8)

I like the Spinward Marches map that came in the Classic Traveller Deluxe Edition boxed set. Not poster size but a nice map all the same.

I remember when QLI released the maps for the Gateway Domain for free as .pdf files, which you could download and print off 'til your heart's content.

I like the idea of a full-colour poster being made, however, I also like the idea of having .pdf maps too. Just a thought.

I could do that with Spinward Marches having scanned in the map.

i have found http://www.travellermap.comto be great at producing maps for my players.

With its API i am able to produce maps centred on there current location. Which i can print off and give to them, to help them plan there next jump.

Just a thought. There is a color and a print option, along with a version that looks cool (have a look at candy style)

Here is something I'm considering for making my own poster maps.

http://www.shortrunposters.com/

Not sure if there are any copyright problems if you had a Traveller sector map made from a gif, pdf, jpg, etc. It's ok for personal use with your play group?

Cost is $2 each, BUT $10 shipping for any number of posters. So, what I was thinking of doing some day is making an order all at once for a couple sector maps (Ref and Player versions), several deckplans of ships blown up to poster size, a popular subsector map poster sized, etc. If I came up with 10 posters I would use, that makes it $3 each with shipping. Not bad.

I have no idea of the quality.
