However seeing them abseiling out of Lynx's would be another cool way for them to get about... 8) Other than that they NEED Landies to get around on the ground. Hmmm I think it would probably be too much to have a Lynx with a a squad of SAS in it, and a Landie slung underneath....

I think that would require a Chinook

There was a playtest game in the office where Matt's helicopter not only got shot down while trying to deploy SAS (on drop lines), but managed to land on top of a building full of French foreign legion as well, neatly wiping out two special forces squads.

If there's no one left alive to see it, are the PLA really wetting themselves laughing?

No cause they'd be dead too. You did say no one left alive to see it.

Their special rule is not french: The French Foreign legion does not suffer from the surrender rule, they are therefore the elite of the French army.

Did you know that they're also not allowed into Paris unless it's Bastille day... it was originally to avoid them taking up arms against the President as they were originally thugs with guns.

I didn't, thanks, my mate who was in them never told me that. He'd say some of them still are thugs with guns!

EDIT: I know they weren't even allowed on French soil at one stage until they were desperately needed during the Franco-Prussian war

they were very effective and inflicted some defeats on the Prussians, recapturing Orleans but were simply too few in number and too late in joining the conflict

That's true but as I said it didn't help. For the reasons you gave. Yes the liberated Orleans but it didn't help.

I'm pretty sure I found the reference about the FFL not being allowed into Paris. The legion revolted against Charles De Gaulle when he gave Algeria back to the Algerian (it was after all the Legion's home country).

Interestingly enough the French government's diplomatic website neglects this 1961 incident see link http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/france_159/discovering-france_2005/france-from-to-z_1978/defence_1983/french-foreign-legion-history_7703.html

Yes the 1REP revolted and were subsequently disbanded. The others including the 2REP remained loyal and are still in existence

Ahhh... vive la mort, vive la geurre, vive le sacre legionnaire!

Sorry, they're aren't any accents for "sacre".
