Personalising your fleet of the Fading Suns?

I've been wondering about how much effort people are planning on putting into the background or identity of their chosen fleet; perhaps based on some of the published material for the different incarnations of the Fading Suns RPG, or perhaps just from their own takes on things.


For example, are any of the would-be Vuldrok admirals looking to tie their force to a particular nation (Drenjar, Lakol, Zetol etc) or planet (Hargard, Wolf's Lament, Frost et al)?

(Indeed, would ships built by for the Ramakrishnas of Vijayanagar on Hargard be the same as "regular" Vuldrok ships, or would their fleet have a different look and fighting stlye altogether?)


Or, say if you were instead basing your force in the Kurga Caliphate. Would you style your force on the beseiged defenders of Hira, a garrison force at Irem, or perhaps a potentially rogue element operating out of Khayyam? (Assuming the latter use standard Kurgan ships and doctrines for their fleets, that is.)


And within the Known Worlds proper, are there any particular sub-forces within the various Noble Houses, or of the various factions of the Church, or any other of the various pillars of the Phoenix Empire you may want to represent?


Or do you plan to set out into some as-yet-unknown Lost World, and claim a brand new world for your very own?

I've got a couple of Imperial Survey documents (Hawkwood and Imperial Fiefs) - but where is the Kurgan background from?
 
About as far as I have gone so far in personalizing my fleets has been the style of paint job I use. Often with unique unit markings over the standard paint jobs.
 
Information on the Barbarian jumpweb, to include the Kurga Caliphate, the Vuldrok Star-Nation, and the various unaligned planets, is spread across the old Star Crusade and Lost Worlds files for a prior edition of Fading Suns.

I'm not sure how much of that data will be changed in 3e; but since DriveThruRPG has the pdfs at a discount anyway, I figured I might as well see what was in them...
 
There will be quite a bit of info on the Barbarian Nations in the PG and GM's guide for FS3 also the main Jumpweb has been significantly modified.
