Mongoose
Hi all, below are my still-work-in-progress pak'ma'ra' fleet. Even managed to play a few games with them.
I tried going for something more organic, but with all of the different sculpts in this fleet, the color scheme had to be unifying. Green window/energy highlight have yet to be added in some places, as well as decals of pak'ma'ra markings which look like this:
Close-up of the P'shulShi...one bad mother.
Porfatis - love these guys and will have to get more.
Photos from a recent game versus EA...5pt Battle below.
Pak: 1 Pshul'shi, 1 Halik, 2 UrikHals, 2 Ikorta and 4 flights of Porfatis
EA: 1 Command Omega, 1 Marathon, 3 Chronos and a Hyperion
Staring across the void at the enemy...
The Halik is one of my favorites in this fleet since it can strip interceptors for the TD weapons to do their thing. Very versatile with 2/45 and 15" ranged weapons.
A dust cloud protects the pak'ma'ra convoy from the looming Marathon and her Hyperion escort. Those empty flight stands represent more Porfatis...I told you I needed more!
Midway through the game, the Chronos are lit up by the Convoy Guardian and Urikhals. I was lucky to target a Chronos in two different arccs of the P'shul Shi. Think I took out 2 and crippled the third in one volley. Porfatis were instrumental at stripping interceptors.
P'shul'shi and the Command Omega exchange broadsides, while Urik'hals jockey for firing positions. T-bolts swarm about trying to hit their hull 6 adversaries. The super fast Marathon emerges but perhaps too late. By this point all of the EA escorts have been destroyed, enabling the pak'ma'ra to outmaneuver the EA boresites.
The pak'ma'ra support vessels use the planet to slingshot back around towards the Marathon, while the Convoy Guardian makes back-to-back 'Come About' rolls to keep the Marathon in her sites. The Marathon's defenses are not enough against the hail of Plasma Torpedos and cannons.
The Pshul'Shi plays amazingly well - it can take a beating but can certainly dish it out. The Warbid and Sunhawks were shelved for this game - lacking the punch and versatility that the Ikorta or Porfatis offer. UrikHals performed well but they are great on paper. Halik was my MVP by far!
Good game against timeslip, and this game made up for the whipping my pak too at the hands of his EA last time. Looking forward to more games with my carrion eaters, for tonight they dine on crispy human flesh!!!
