Painting Schemes Help!/Suggestions.

Sulfurdown

Mongoose
I've never before painted models but I may start to acquire some B5 ships to begin. I'd like to get a set of Shadow ships and use a base color of a deep violet/black and dry brush the ripple edges into a black vein webwork. Does anyone have suggestions for methods and colors/color manufacturers that they've had success with?

I use either Games Workshop paints or Vallejo paints. You could prime in black. I use a sandable primer that I buy at Home Depot that is made by Rustoleum. This gives a real nice start for the models. Then you could try drybrushing the purple over the primer. Or you could get a medium from Vallejo that thins the paint and gives it an opacity that lets the undercoat come through, then go to your drybrush with progressive coats of lighter purples to give you the highlights. Just some thoughts. Some great painting tutorials can be found at Privateer Press under the brushthralls link.

Pause.... hmmmm.... I wonder if the wife would notice them missing....

the answer is yes

Then use your own. Yeah, I said it, wanna fight about it?

But in all honesty, does that work?

I haven't tried it, but on larger objects, you can use fishnet stockings to create patterns. For some reason, I want to paint my Warlock, so that it looks like an oversized snake.

Shadow Queen, do you use GW flying bases on your minis?

The stands look shorter and the bases larger (i.e more stable!) than the ones that come with Mongoose minis...
