Painting BFE Miniatures...

I have seen on these forums that some are going to get different miniatures for BFE play for other forces, such as the Australians and their AUGs . For those that are painting or repainting, is there a quick and dirty way to paint the camoflage patterns? Google didn't give me too many articles except the basic "how to paint wargame miniatures" pages. Either tips or links to online guides and help for digital and normal patterns would be helpful as well.

I think it might help if you narrowed down the army/unit that you're interested in. Lots of different camo patterns and I'm sure just as many ways to paint them.

Well, patterns similar to the USMC and EUXF would be good.

I've done this only with my SST army but You may want to try it with other colors.
First I primed my minis with black spray. Then with white to have a nice grey undercoat(bright brown in Your case). You can make it regular or not. than i randomly painted black strips(green,black).Then i made a drybrush with very dark grey(dark brown). Faces, guns, visor plates, and we have urban-moon cammo army that (imHo) looks like hell and painting tiem is two hours max.

Maybe there will be a painting guide on the back of the boxes with what colors have been used.

Have a look at Mongrel Miniatures they have a web site they sell 28mm Cold War 1980's figures British, Russians and US. They have a painting guide or how to page devoted to camouflage uniforms it is very useful. Sorry I don' have the URL but if you Google Mongrel Miniatures I am sure you will find it.

1 tip i have found is that if you paint camo on a model, it looks too clean, if you drybrush a light weathering effect over it (light grey or a cream/fawn colour), it brings out the details, dulls down the camo a bit, and makes the model look more 'natural'. Haven't done much desert camo (yet), but I would probably lighten the colour with a bit of white for this (I will have to experiment a bit). :lol:
