Well first combat went sucky was hopeing to have more than just one opponet.Sorry if anyone feels I let them down. In my TRoleplaying experience always good to expect the unexpected. I was prepared for multiple targets.
Rest of you did well.Thinking of not buffing myself in a battle maybe as
we are traveling because as Trevor showed me anything can happen.

The first little encounter had a few things in it,stealth, surprise and was based around some information in one players background. it was meant to test the plan I had and I really didn't want it to go on and delay the flow of the game.
I think Tofu did do the right thing had there been others then they would have had the chance to either make another try against the drugged Jiao who all the other characters forgot in the heat of battle or could have flanked/sneak attacked the fighting men and brought one or more of them down, in a more dangerous encouter Tofu would have made a huge impact on the outcome.

Yeah, sorry if I upset Tofu. I'm not trying to be critical ooc, just roleplaying the newcomer my charcter is already wary of not taking part in the fight. Don't want him to leave though. He definately did what would have been best in a sustained encounter with multiple opponents.

Just Roleplaying My Character too. I asked an Experienced DM from d&d what his next Action would be to do? Had he been confronted by a Threatening Party Member.
He gave me two suggestions.
1. Treat the Fighter like he did you, Like say. Oh,You think my Tactics were
poorly chosen, I didnot know Warriors could think.
2. Leave Group as opposed to dealing with a Aggreviated Assailant who
wishes to bring harm to you.Self Preservation.
Have to think of a good write up for Why I came back, maybe oles can help me with that one.

Did you mean your Character was already wary That Tofu didnot take part in fight? Just clearifying this for Roleplaying purposes. Not upset=) Really, this is a fun game and Trevor is painting the portrait of what we seee, hear. and feel quite interesting.Maybe one day Mongosse will give him a job=)

Character was just wary of the magic display....then not taking part in the fight. As I would think most Hyborians would be. The whole magic should be feared and is a mysterious thing seems like the general theme in the setting to me. I just wouldn't think it would come up in every conversation and general smalltalk without raising suspicions. One of the reasons I like the Conan setting so much, besides REH's stories, was the general perception of magic and its powers. Definately not the D&D magic is a part of everything and commonplace. It always seems mysterious and unknown and powerful to me. Most sorcerors are evil and twisted in the stories...and that seems to be the perception of most common people in the setting.
One of the reasons I have liked this game is the fact I don't have everyones character sheet in front of me. I have to pay attention to the people and their reactions to various situations without the other metagaming factors. I don't need to know Tofu is a wizard and it could all be for show. Portraying himself as powerful and as someone to be feared because of the power he "wields".

Yeah, Makes sense but this is tofu . I have read Conan books since a child of 8 and granted magic is not an open display.Unless a Wizard wishes to impart fear on someone,Or Control them.
Even in the Conan Movies Akiro only used Magic three or Four Times.
and only ounce said he was a Powerful Wizard that could summon the
most powerful demon in all of Hell.
Notice, I have not shown every spell ,Or boasted of being a mighty Wizard. I have to best of my ability preached Magic.As if telling the curious by serving Ishtar you can to recieve her gifts of nature.

I loaded bow, and was looking for another.Even prepareing for the worse.
Sometimes being cautious is better than rushing into battle.
But, maybe your fighter didnot see things the way I did. Reason when I left I told him. Maybe next time he wont be so lucky to battle just one.

Like I said, I was just trying to roleplay the way I thought my character would react to the situation. Right or wrong or whatever. Its your character, play him however you want. I was just trying to leave out the metagaming stuff like knowing about your spells and what-not out of it and basing his reactions on what was happening in game. I had no way of knowing how many opponents there would be, and I definately knew rushing headlong into the fight wasn't the safest course of action. OOC I knew right away that you were "buffing" yourself. As far as Treyon is concerned, he knows nothing more than what he has seen and heard in game.

This discussion is not going to get anywhere. I would advise that we drop this . I have tried to move the game on a little more than I usualy would, it would be nice to see more energy spent there !

i guess it is too late to say that, so long as there were no complaints from the forum members, i prefered it here.
i've never taken much time to look at the online game section before. i guess many othres dont too. while we are playing this game for our own enjoyment, i think thalia is entertainng, and it is fun to think think a wider audience is tuning in.
i also agree with ogral1 that character sheets should not be posted!
I like the game thread to be as in character as possible, and that the mechanics of our players be refected only in our creative narratives.
Its cool to include the thoughts of our characters, and reveal more information of our past through reminicences in internal dialogue, but i want the PCs to react as much as possible to only what they hear and see in the gameworld. I;m glad we have this OOC thread for other chatter, but it would still take some of the mytiqu of our characters away to post their stats anywhere.
In a PNP game I my fellow players and I have never been privy to each other's sheets.

I'm with Windman and Ogral1 on this one. My characters in real life tabletop roleplaying games are never shared with other players, just the GM. There tends to be a lot of background in there, that other characters would not know, and then I have the choice in whether to reveal that information in character or not. So I'm afraid I will not be posting my character unless someone can give me a really good reason to change my mind.

The difference between running an on-line game and a traditional PnP type game is you get a lot more time to deal with your players actions, when they have all posted some intention you pick the most appropriate die rolls and write down the results like so

Now in a traditional game I would have to give the players all the information right away, but on-line I get to take the dogs for a walk, load the dishwasher and think about what these rolls mean, what do I want / need to tell them and how to phrase it... Takes all the pressure off and makes D.M.ing a much more pleasent task.

Yeah,I know on tabletop only what DM/GM tells party about me is useally ,what they find out.Just played on Online Roleplaying Community where nothing is kept secret amoung people. And even here on Mongoose can go to any game and see someones character Stats.
Been a rough start for me breaking away from groups who donot care what others know about them.
