OOB release date.

Myrm

Mongoose
Ok Im wanting to get this onto my Christmas wishlist but we are at 27th Nov and the OOB page is still saying release in Nov 2007 and preorder.

Is OOB released yet, if not is there a projected general release date yet?

I just got an email from Amazon.com that my pre-order that I did there for OOB has been "delayed" with an expected shipping date of 12/6....

Nice...my email from Amazon is for Dec 24th. And here I was thinking I was so clever when I pre-ordered from them (Ship Date: Nov. 26th)

On a side note, any idea of when the PDF version will be released?

Thanks!
Curtis

At least Amazon is keeping you updated... i paid using pay pal and wouldnt have know there was a delay if it wasnt for the forum.

I guess I'm slightly disappointed here. I'm used to "hard target" release dates on games and supliments. This feels like the Nov 24th date originally published was a soft date.

Not disappointed enough to slam anyone, and I do have lots of other things to do in December so waiting until January isn't terrible, but I had hoped to have the book in hand well before I move in January because forwarding mail, etc... is always a pain.

In my mind, if OOB wasn't going to be avaliable to be shipped on Nov 24th, it would have been better to advertise "End of 2007". Delaying after an advertised release date kinda can kill the fun some. Just my opinon though.

Mine arrived today.
Was good, pretty much what I was expecting.

however, Italians (always Italians...)

nothing much wrong, the D'aosta's = only two, not four. one was called Emanuelle Filiberto Duca D'aosta, the other one was Eugenio Di Savoia. (thought someone might have picked that one up before it made it into S&P...lol)

Lacks more destroyers.

Lacks SM79s as an aircraft choice - come on, their most widely used anti shipping aircraft. surely it has a place in VaS?

RE2001 was a fighter bomber, not just a fighter. They trialed them in that role against Pedestal, and were only let down by their bombs being useless!

Thanks for the coastal forces, I'll look forward to having a bash with them.

One question:
the new points system. By my (skim) reading it stops you from taking units more than three PLs lower than the scenario setting. That means in a PL War game, you can't take destroyers.

I assume I've read it wrongly, can someone fill me in on where?

Hmm, we developed three sets of Re.2001 stats. Apparently the set for the fighter bomber weren't the ones selected :(

IIRC the SM.79 was done as well but loks like it was shot down by the editor on its way to the target :)

I was a bit disappointed at the number of typos in OOB, but it does contain a lot of good stuff, particularly the coastal forces and the rewritten aircraft rules.

One question, the errata says the Queen Elizabeth battleships should be target 5+, not 4+.
Is that really right? If it is, I assume it's because they are relatively short?
Are there any other battleships which are 5+

It affects my basing - I use three different base widths for 4+, 5+ and 6+ target ships so that they can be told apart at a glance on the table.

Are there any other battleships which are 5+

Quite a few - can't remember exactly which but its mainly the old stubby WW1 battleships.

EDIT: Cailo Duilio, Resolution, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wyoming, Conte de Cavour, Bretagne, Courbet, Arkangelsk, Gangut
