Old sailor confused again;-)

Hello everyone,

Well, I've confused myself once again while trying to combine
design sequences in the core rulebook and HG.

In the core rule book a turret is 1 d-ton and requires 1 d-ton for fire control, right?

In HG the design for the Light fighter on p. 95 shows that a fixed mounted pulse laser is 1 d-ton. Where did the 1 d-ton come from? Is the HG Light fighter the same as the Light fighter om Core Rulebook p. 136?

Sorry about asking the question again, but I'm getting old and feeble minded.

It's ok to ask.

Fixed Mounting is 0 tons. (Traveller: Core Rulebook page 111).

Evening AndrewW,

Thank you for the reply and confirming that a fixed mount is 0 d-tons. Where did the 1 d-ton for the Light fighter on HG p. 95 Come from?

I've checked HG and just can't seem to find where the 1 d-ton came from.

Did I get the turret as being 1 d-ton and fire control as 1 d-ton correct?

According to High Guard, page 61, under Armaments:

"One ton of fire control equipment must be installed for each turret
or fixed mount (see page 111 of the Traveller main rulebook)."

So the 1 dton of the light fighter probably is the fire control equipment
for the fixed mount, I think

The total tonnage adds up to 10 so looks like the 1 ton listed is for fire control. This is another case where more details would be welcome as that figure doesn't include fire control on all ships. But then if you include 1 ton for fire control on the Multipurpose Fighter (which has the fixed mount at 0 tons) it is over it's tonnage.

Howdy Rust,

Thank you for the page number in HG that provides clarification to the core rulebook text. The core rulebook, p. 111, states clearly that turrets and bays require 1 d-ton of fire control. Unfortunately, this was missed for fixed mounts.

With the info you provided for the fixed mount I did a quick check to see what TL the antimatter power plant is available at in HG. I haven't found in either the hard or e-copies of core rulebook I have.

Thanks for helping to unconfuse me.

Howdy to you AndrewW,

Thanks for coming to my aid and pointing out one of the items that caused my confusion on the weapon d-ton issue for small craft design. The core rulebook's light fighter specifications are not any help either.

I think Antimatter is a TL 17 design. It isn't mentioned in the TMB, but from older editions of Traveller, that is when it comes in.

Antimatter is mention in the Mongoose Traveller core rulebook on page 109.
Doesn't list any tech level.

Howdy all,

The Antimatter power plant, as identified, is found on p. 109 of the TMB. Mongoose HG p. 63 states "Antimatter plants are the same size and are only available from TL 17."
