Since ther eis a new version of this coming out, and I prefer to hear from players, what makes this campaign fun as a setting.
I mean, magic, cosmology, races, etc, story, places...
I am intrigued.

Their is a good story that acts as a backdrop to this, it is set in a world of intrigue - allowing you to play an assortment of characters. This world is set full of conflict and an epic battle of good versus evil.

If you have read through the books, and enjoyed them, then this gives you the chance to play in the same areas as LW.

Check www.projectaon.org for online copies of the original books. The new ones coming out are revisions of these originals.

The RPG is simply a guide to playing in the vast world explored by the books, built heavily upon the d20 rule system. Magic isn't too heavy in this world. There is not a vast index of monsters to fight. Much of what makes this world interesting are the character classes.

The ultimate class is the Kai Lord, which at level 20 will have close to 100 class abilities at his command. They are the chosen of the god of good, Kai.

Other warrior classes include the Vakeros (known for bluesteel armor and weapons), Telchoi (desert warriors), Bor Gunners (dwarves with firearms), and Sommerlund Knights.

Magic-using classes include the Brotherhood of the Crystal Star, Dessi Mage, Herbalish (think good druid), Cener (think bad druid), and Sage of Lyris.

And at the site www.towerofthesun.com, you can find absolute scads of fan-created material, ranging from epic level Kai to artwork to stories and entire new classes. (Yeah, shameless plug).

Even without the RPG, it is a great fantasy world to explore through the books. With the RPG, it makes it more fun. Now that the whole line is beign rereleased, well, needless to say most of us who have known of the series for 20+ years are extremely excited.

So, are the game books similar to the Fighting Fantasy books?

Yes, but with a different rules system and a much better setting. The Fighting Fantasy books suffer from a fragmented world syndrome where stuff in different books in similar regions contradicts each other or doesn't seem so believeable. Magnamund is more cohesive. Stuff makes sense (in that each area has a clear cultural identity whereas Titan (the FF world) has good adventures but the setting's less coherent).

I am actually becoming quite fascinated by the idea of this rpg. It seems to be a fantas setting that most people I game with no nothing about, and all the work for a seting is done, without me having to do my own or recycling stuff already out for runequest or D&D.
Its a shame all the books from the site are gone...
I can always wait, seing how I'm broke!

Cool. Sounds like fun.

I started WAY BACK with the Endless Quest series and just found out about FF with the re-release in the last few years. I get a kick out f these books. Plus, I can give them to my sons when they start reading.

I did some digging and found these books are linked into a campaign? Too cool. Can't wait to read them...

Is there any news on the release schedule?

One book per month would take near three years to get the set - I'm hoping thats the minimum it'll run at..?

Is there any news on the release schedule?

The original 28 books will be released as quickly as we can produce art and lay them out. The last 4 will be released as quickly as Joe can write them.

Can't be any more specific than that at the moment.
