Nolo'tar and Troligan

might be pushing things a bit far for variant models as yet. although guess theres no reason why not in the future if people really wanted them. atm though it works to use the model for all variants.

The new Olympus is the same design, except half-way between FA and full size. I think thats the last we were told?

I'm sure we can all agree thats its great to see some new Ship designs from Mongoose.
While you may not like a particular design, they appear to be detailed and decent quality.
Very exciting time.
Well done Mongoose :D

I can't decide if the new Troligan is an improvement or not. I hated the old one, but this new one is a bit, er... well, it doesn't really fit. The fins need some detail or texture on then, they shouldn't be flat like that. It's a better overall shape, though, than that squashed flat design the old one had.

I like the original. It was ugly but felt like part of the fleet.

Troligan II doesn't even look like a miniature but a toy. C'mon mongoose! I WANT to give you my money for cool minis. But they have to be cool!

The Nolo'Tar is fine. It looks kind of off for an ISA fleet but it at least looks okay. The Troligan II though? *Shudder* It's just horrific.

It seems to me Mongoose needs to have an open competition of some sort for making new ship models. Have both their inhouse artists and fans to compete in making ships.

The Nolo'Tar should have been the Troligan II maybe and just scrapped this new design... IMO :)

I like them.

I don't mind the size of the Nolo'Tar. I've got a bunch of Olympuses and love those models. I use the old AoG large scale fighters for my fighter flights also. Scale really dosn't mean a whole bunch in this game anyways.

The resculpt of the Troligan is a significant improvement. Never was crazy about the AoG version, and the concept art that AoG had in an early B5W was really bad. I can see some of the cartoony look to it, but I think that's more from the paintjob rather than from the sculpt. It's supposed to be an armored cruiser, so I'd expect something like a smaller Sharlin with thicker parts anyways.

The Brakiri scout is already on my want list. Nice looking sculpt and something really in need for the Brakiri.

As far as the sculpts go, I like the direction these are going. Far better than those from the Armageddon stuff. The redone Z'taak looks great and I like these. I hope the redos of the Armageddon come out looking like these.

Now if Mongoose can cast these without issues, I'd be a happy man.

Oh yeah, forgot the Brakiri scout. Anyways overall I'm glad for the serious improvement we've seen in recent designs. Three out of the four most recent ship designs have been okay(I disagree with Kiley about the Troligan obviously). And at least I can see what went wrong with the Troligan. Mongoose wanted to make it look "armored" since it is an armored cruiser. They just didn't do it quite right.

But the Z'Takk, Nolo'Tar, and Brakiri ships are all things I'd play without gagging.

Although the Brakiri ship does fit into the sex toy fleet with the Liati and Drakh buttplug.

exactly what i mean...the "old" troligan was not a beauty but a fine design.
only the stats were not so good. also...
modeling a new ship... :?:
they must only change some little stats and not resculpt an existing ship... sorry Moongoose, i don´t pay money for such a thing.

when i need a new troligan, i scratchbuild me one....but i am happy with the old design.

The problem I see with the Nolo'Tar is not so much its enormous size, but the fact that its mounted on a large base (admittedly neccessary due to its size) but its supposed to be smaller than a White Star yet in games terms in effects a larger area due to its base...

The Olympus of course has the same problem but that is getting reduced in size (and according to the pic on the main site the Chronos has a big base as well, despite being far to small to require one...)

I'm not looking for exact scalings here (that's impossible because there are no exact official sizes for most of the ships from the series, let alone the ones that weren't in it) just small ships being small, big ones being big...

I like the models; although I´d also prefer a smaller ranger frigate - but the model itself sure is nice.

Now, the Troligan looks pretty nice, and certainly more like a Minbari ship than the old one. I´m really looking forward to the revisesd rules; it´s about time I get back to my Minbo fleet

I don't mind the size of the Olympus. It's a cool model. i don't put much stock in base sizes in our games.

Still, I wish the Troligan II was a new Minbo ship and the old Troligan was still around. The Minbari need more ships.

The Nolotar is to big.
I like the design and model but its to big for a frigate.
I doubt there is time to downsize it before next month

Don't like the Troligan...looks like a fish with a pair of squirt guns.

ISA get a nice design. I only disagree with the size thing in that I believe folks are making a mistake in assuming PL level and size of model should have a similar scale (ie Low pl ships should be small, high PL should be large). PL measures a ships combat survivability and sheer firepower (and to some extent where the navy feels it fits). A transport ship should be huge in comparison to many military vessels, but would be low priority.

No real opinion in the Brakiri...the whole adult toy fleet thing I'm torn over.
