Nobles and adoption

I have some questions about nobles adopting orphaned noble children of other family members, can you please help?

1st is if A Noble who for whatever reason can't have kids adopts his or her orphaned Niece or Nephew will the child get his or her adopted parents lands and titles, his or her birth parents lands and titles or both when he or she turns 18?

2nd is if A Noble adopts a orphaned relation of his or her whose parents where of a lower Social Scale does his or her adopted child's Social Scale increase to his or her adopted parents Social Scale forever or just till he or she turns 18?

3rd is if A Noble adopts a orphaned relation of he or she whose parents where of a higher social scale then he or she does his or her Social Scale increase until his adopted Child turns 18 or does his or her adopted Childs Social Scale drop until he orvshe turns 18?

I think it kind of depends on what they wrote down in their will. Noble titles can be passed down to whoever is specified in the will, it doesn't have to be a blood relative either.

Your game, let them do whatever. I suspect that adoption will come in huge variety of forms for a lot of different reasons. There hundreds of examples just from Earth history, which is ONE WORLD.

Let them do whatever they want - Adopt your own clone - sure; Adopt an orphan that robbed you on the street - why not?; Adopt the child of a servant - of course.

It's all good - or nefarious depending on the true motivations.

Emperors were at first non-hereditary, they chose their successors by adoption, When the Roman Empire went into decline, Emperors became hereditary.

The Japanese also adopt outsiders, even as adults, especially if it's to coopt a capable manager into the family firm, possibly in addition to marriage to the daughter of the house.

As for the Romans, the tendency to dynastize can certainly be identified pre-Principate.
