Though thr Psionic Energy Sword isn't quite a match to lightsaber. Need to tweak it(like the rule requiring user to be psionic. Anybody can use light saber. Most just aren't that efficient with them...).

A better equivalent is the Arc Light blade. It was specifically put in to add a light-saber-a-like to Traveller.....

You mean the Arc-Field swords?
They're not quite the same, since they have a physical blade "a web of dense fibres that conduct high amounts of energy" as a conductor, they're more like a fusion of the Sith Lightwhip concept and the vibrosword onto the same device. Sort of like the Baragwin Assault Blade from Knights of the Old Republic (once you get it fully kitted out with the Energy Projector, the vibration cell, and the durasteel bonding alloy.)

I'd rule that Arc-Field weapons are like the EU weapon, the Tapani Lightfoil, a device created to simulates the lightsaber/energy-sword for non-jedi/non-psions.


I'd also use the psi-cutlass as the Sith alchemical sword, with the house-rule that they can indeed parry arc-field weaponry and psionic energy swords.

At least, in my own campaign, anyway.
