Banded Mongoose
Ok, so I'm looking at my next few gaming purchases and I'm looking for some recommendations/opinions. Of the following books, in what order would you purchase them? I probably can't get them all at once. Also, if there is anythine about your recommendations that pushes a book to the top of the list, please share what those reasons are.

Argos and Zingara
Conan Compendium
Shem
Tales from the Black Kingdoms
Ruins of Hyboria

Thanks,

Azgulor

Ruins is pretty good,it help me fill out a ruin idea I was working on and proved to be a great purchase. It also has some great ruins in it aswell.

Although this might sound terribly cheeky of me, I would choose Ruins of Hyboria.

I second that. :D
Ruins is awesome. 8)
On my Downloads page (see link in sig) I made a Random Ruin Generator for use with the book. It is in Excel.

A third vote for Ruins and a move to declare the Random Ruin Generator excel sheet from Yogah as "awesome".

That is very awesome. I am impressed. I actually cannot come up with the words. I am smiling from ear to ear. Thanks.

I would guess that the answer depends on some factors, like are you a
D.M. or player ?, have you got a game running ?

For a player Shem and Argos offer more in terms of building a character from the area with a detailed background

For a D.M. with a game going it depends on where your game is set and what you plan next, The compendium has sample adventures, Tales from the black kingdom is a series of three adventures, The books shem and argos are for setting a game in those places and Ruins contains details opf some of the well known ruins plus rules and guides to create your own ruins, in my current PnP game I plan to make extensive use of ruins

So what is going on in your game?

Ruins is great because you have tons of scenario ideas, some being more or less detailed. There are many goods plans and there are even many table to create your own ruins (with traps, etc..).

It's a book you can use with any other of the Conan line.

Sgt Zim: Thanks!
V. Darlage: Thanks, again!

If I can think of other ideas for random goodness, I'll put it up on my site.

Howsabout a ship and/or port builder for Pirate Isles? :)

Ship and port builder!?! :?
Now that is genius! :D .......

roll 1d%

roll..........result
1-25........it floats!
26-00......give my regards to Davy Jones, matey!

I'll tinker around with it. :thinking furiously:

I would have thought it would have run more like:

1-2 it floats and you make a humble living as a meagre merchant
2-100 On its maiden voyage Amra the Lion takes the ship and plunders the kushite coast with your head on a pike as his standard...

I'm a GM. As to my campaign, the current campaign is a fantasy world where I am using the Conan RPG as my core rules rather than using the rules and the setting. Despite that, however, I have bought much of the Conan line because 1-they're great books, 2-my next campaign will probably be a Hyboria campaign, 3-I've been able to mine the books for lots of stuff for my current campaign. For example:
The feudal structure of Aquilonia was crucial for my feudal-based kingdoms. Similarly, AtTR was good for helping me flesh out life on the borderlands of one of my kingdoms. Stygia was good as it presented a non-feudal culture. Obviously, the Hyboria's F- books were useful since they focused on the classes.

So, all of the books I listed are on my "will buy" list. The book descriptions, however, aren't detailed enough that I can say "that's the one I want next".

Thanks for all of the feedback I've received thus far. Clearly Ruins of Hyboria is a favorite!
