New units you'd like to see?

Mage

Mongoose
What units would you guys like to see? Now, new ones I mean, ones that have not already been released or with silght modifications, nor ones that were coming out and did not or wer hinted at.

Personally, I would like to see more different type of exosuits. Just would, they rock. Maybe a unique command suit and a scouting one like what was mentioned near the end of the novel.

As for powersuits, I would like to see Stryker suit squad in a MI platoon.

I would also like some sort of cheap leader model for skinnies in small scale games.

I was wondering if MGP would ever bring out the amphibious Bugs we saw in the animated series. Also, for the MI, the skimmer and waterjets.
Maybe also civilians, so the MI could have mission like "save the colonists before the Warrior Bugs make kebab out of them". Preferably young female colonists with big boo... boots.

I'd just like to see more customizable warrior bugs. I'm sure there are probably 100 different variations as they are supposed to adapt to different worlds, so why not have some that are faster/more armored/have more attacks/tunnel better etc. etc.

Guard/Tiger/Worker bugs are a start, but I'd like to see even more

I'd like to see a scout exosuit and a command exosuit for both Cougars and Grizzlies.

It's one thing to use a Cougar as a command exosuit, but it doesn't work unless the Cougar is changed to move twice the distance of the Grizzly.

In the AH game, the standard Marauder suit (that's the book's name for the private's exosuit) had a movement factor of 6 and the Command and Scout suits had a movement factor of 10. With scout and command exosuits having greater movement, then placement can become more critical. In the book, Zim tactfully suggested to Rico that scout suits were needed at the OP with his command suit - so that they could all move back quickly.

The command suit could be made more expensive and the command range of the NCO or officer in that suit could be GREATLY increased. It probably couldn't be like the book (where a quarter-mile interval was considered to be uncomfortably close), but it would help prevent clumping and would open up tactical possibilities.

I'd love to see a bug that carries cliff-mites like how some spiders carry their nest sacks on their back. A bug APC! :D I was thinking something like a modified warrior or tunneler.

A combat engineer (we've heard rumors about them) would be great, maybe let you buy a few points of emplacements without having to take defend tactics.

An elite shooting bug would be nice, like the guard bugs are elite warriors but for blister/blasters. In the fps video game there were ones that looked like warriors but shot acid spines, great imagery.

MI "talent" like in the book: very weak stat line but access to unique powers. In fact a SICON army like Hiro was talking about would be great, powerful "talent", LAMI blackshirts with special gear and maybe some of the darker experiments like the cyborgs from the old comic.

I still like that idea alot (I remember discussions on it back in the day), it fits in with the Roughnecks TV series, and seems as if it'd add some much needed uncertainty to the bug list

Thats the coolest idea I've heard so far for just sheer oomph! Maybe it could fire the cxliff mites off like some kinda missile system :D

Maybe something based on the tyranid mutations? Yes, it's EE codex, but then again if system works, why not use it?

The problem is that with pre-paints... customizability (if that is even a word) sort of goes out the window. Having sprues like Tyranids do is sort of unworkable with pre-paints. Maybe sometime in the future, they'll come out with something that easily attaches to Warrior bugs, but even those will be limited as they would be difficult to create effective add-ons.

Well, we can always hope that maybe someday we can get some fun twists... like all Tiger armies or Thorny tankers that damage their attackers (Maybe D6-1 for each target in CC) or something like all guard bug armies. Oh well...

Hmm... There's a few other Warrior type species... like the two or so from the SST video game. You know, like this one:

So, a prepainted set of glue on yourself biomorphs,
a cliffmite transporter,
a forth fortress (prepainted of courese)
command exosuits of each exo type
and scout exosuits

@Ragnarok
AH game? You mean there was an Avalon hill starship troopers game? Im guessing it was an RPG?

I know someone who's dad used to play it religiously, but Im not sure if thats good or not.
I think the avalon hill version has plastic pieces, but the only version I've seen was card tokens:

I think Heinlein also wrote the preface or something in the rulebook, so thats another thing it has going for it :D

Well, if mongoose make enough money I'm sure they can find someone to resurrect Heinleins corpse and get him to wrtite something. It probably would not be coherent with being an undead blasphemy against god, but it would have his name, preceeded by 'BBBRRRaaaaiiiinnnss.....' on it.

I think I should make it a pole: would you read a forward by Zombie Heinlien?

Seroisluy though, forwards do help. Look at the B5 RPG first ed with JMS. That was cool. Did not see one in the second ed book though.

A Forth Super-Dimensional-Fortress :D

Wait, didn't the Forth Super-Dimensional-Fortress disappear into the fourth dimension? I could have sworn I was on the SST forum, not ACtA...

Maybe they could import from other Heinlein books: Revolt in 2100, anyone?

I have the AH SST board game. It had little cardboard counters for the bugs, and basically the same for the MI, but they were printed onto clear plastic sheets instead of cardstock.

And for the record, it was ok. I'm told the combat rules were similar to 40k, but i've never played that.
